I think I understand that if the los between spotter and target is all Blue, then the target is going to be spotted almost regardless of range (barring whatever multiplier there is to the base spotting range).... At the beginning of a mission, I move my troops to be near a 'Universal Carrier' but then am unable to 'mount' any troops inside. Why? I can mount troops in tanks with no problem.

Back from a very long break and rather disappointed to see little that points to any further development of this excellent game. The long awaited US DLC , whilst very good, was also very small and felt a little like a fond farewell. The roadmap only shows: Multiplayer prototype and Late war bonus units for skirmish and BG... In the absence of a mission editor, the next best thing would be the option to select the AI force. At the moment this is only partially possible with the formation (Panzer Lehr, 21st Pz Div, Infantry only etc) option but you can’t select the actual units. This would be great to have. For example, I was trying to create an engagement in Sept 1944 involving US airborne and British armour against a mix of Fallschirmjagers and Heer (107 Pz Bde) panthers.
