Game was in early access for an eternity, now it's out - with zero changes based on player feedback, a relatively short campaign and bad designs. Avoid.

Look, I could write a couple thousand words picking apart why Graven is awful: all the glitches, bugs, terrible design decisions, rushed content, limp-wrist melee, stupid maps with perpetually respawning everything. Or its designed-by-marketing confused attempt to be a Hexen throwback but also Metroidvania and Soulslike and Boomer Shooter, its magic which literally only exists to open doors and is almost totally ineffectual in combat, how all its ranged weapons have all the impact and feel of a damp, stealthy fart, its atrocious encounter design, its somehow worse individual enemy design, the absolute trashcan puzzles that can't even obey their own internal rules, the either totally absent or incoherent story, the fact there is no manual saving whatsoever, the fact when you exit the game and re-enter it always spawns you in the main hub like it's the Fire Shrine except the level structure is too poorly designed to actually support that, or the endless amount of backtracking through the perpetually respawning everything.

I could even just point at the developer line up at the top, narrow my eyes and ♥♥♥♥ my head to the side as if to say "Did you really think a Slipgate Ironworks game wasn't going to be a broken, unfinished, janky, scatterbrained piece of crap?"

But, come on, none of that is worth our time because Graven isn't worth anybody's time.

Why, then, do I have 20 hours? Well, bad games are more interesting than good ones.

A swing and a miss. Stamina system is extremely annoying when combined with the checkpoint system - you're forced to choose between walking back or sprinting and then standing around like a sack of potatoes and waiting for the stamina to regen. Big crowds of enemies without a good way to do effective AoE attacks is a big miss as well. No easy armor or second health to obtain, no overhealing, and very slow changing of weapons when you should be comboing spells with weapons. Overall, play another retro inspired shooter.
