Girls! Girls! Girls?! is a "galge" visual novel developed by Myosuki, and it's an epitome of wasted potential. The art direction is solid, the Live2D models are very well done and expressive, characterization is consistent, the adult content is uncensored, meaning that there is no mosaics (and can be disabled in the options menu for all those who aren't persons of culture) and the dialogue is on the good side (with some cringe lines, though).

However, my biggest problem with this game is the character writing. Not confuse this with characterization, which was nailed perfectly. With this, I mean the arcs the characters need to go through. The setups for the arcs are there, but the development was rushed, and that removes all poignancy. To clarify, their flaws and struggles aren't real obstacles to their development, or at least, they aren't written as such, and they are solved rather quickly and conveniently, and that destroys any sense of stakes and dramatic tension. I mention this because I said in past reviews that good characterization is enough, but that only works on the assumption that the writers didn't bother setting up character arcs. In this case, arcs were indeed setup, but what I take issue with is the chain of events linking character setups and payoffs. It's like trying to cross a bridge whose ends are solid, but all that's between is poorly constructed.

Other problems I found with this game is some elements of the plot. I'll discuss some aspects of the choice system too, because I feel that's relevant, since it's a core game mechanic. The good endings are rushed, but the single bad ending this game has drags on and on, which could have been done in half the lines. As for the choice system, it works intuitively in almost all instances, save for the harem route, which I couldn't get. There are two possibilities: the choice system didn't account for this instance initially, and the devs did it as an afterthought, which would explain why it feels counterintuitive, and the second possibility is that I just needed to put more time on it. This aspect is the most contentious, because I know for a fact that there are players who got that route, and could have different thoughts than me, and that's understandable. That's why I won't chalk this up as a negative for the game, unlike game journalists who would complain because they can't execute competently a basic game mechanic.

In the end, weighing the pros and cons, I can't recommend this game in grounds of writing. If you care about character writing, then I recommend to look for something else. If you like otokonoko, and don't care about writing, this is for you. The adult content of this game isn't for everyone, and only highly cultured individuals will enjoy them.
