Golf Club Nostalgia starts with a really interesting concept, and honestly, I wanted to love this game because of that initial promise. The music is great, and the radio broadcasts tell some compelling stories, creating a unique atmosphere. But honestly, the core golf mechanics completely prevented me from enjoying it. Trying to hit the ball is incredibly frustrating – it feels impossible to consistently judge the right angle and power needed for shots. There's no intuitive feedback, making predicting where the ball will land feel like a total guess. It just doesn't feel good to play golf when the simple act of hitting the ball is this finicky and unpredictable. This frustration got so bad that I actually ended up giving up around hole 20. While the concept, music, and story are definite highlights, the maddening gameplay ruined the experience for me, and I unfortunately can't recommend it.

Short and easy casual game that's mostly a background for a two and a half hour immersive audio experience meant to be experienced on expensive headphones. There is a super hi-fi soundtrack that plays like a dystopian NPR or PRI broadcast and they pretty much nail the vibe. Sounds fantastic on good cans (think Beyerdynamic T5 3rd gen or Sennheiser HD-650 with an amplifier).

The gameplay itself is middling, casual and frankly is just the backdrop to keep you occupied just enough to indulge the soundtrack to its full length. One thing to note is that the golf club's stroke power progression is using something like a log function, so most of the time you will be trying to decide between 9 and 10 bars of power on each swing rather than using the full range. The lower half of your stroke power range is mostly useless.

Overall, if you're an audiophile and wish there were more high-fi content in the gaming world, I recommend it. If you have cheap headphones, you won't really enjoy it nearly as much.
