A stat-based point-and-click horror game based on Lovecraft? I didn’t know I needed this in my life, but it ended up being one of the best point and click adventure games I have ever played. You’re juggling sleep, sanity, grades, and a murderous, ugly rat while a witch haunts your dreams in a crusty run-down apartment, all while under time pressure to prepare yourself for an upcoming demonic event, perfection!

The game places a heavy emphasis on improving your knowledge stats, which impacts both your studies and ability to comprehend the Lovecraftian horrors you ultimately encounter. I find the stat building is quite well connected to the core gameplay and puzzles, and it kept me on my toes, trying to optimize what little time I have. The game has a ton of random elements, but in the best possible way. Different puzzles may appear, characters might be in different locations at different times, and you even need to keep an eye out for the weather and events around the city.

I also love how, even despite so many options, when you do some of the more outrageous esoteric things, the game acknowledges that and sometimes even opens up options or solutions you didn't know were possible.

There are many games ispired by lovecraftian horror, but only a few games truly lovecraftian in setting, references and general feel. This is one of them and it's great! One of my favorites together with Dark Corners of Earth.
