It is a very good game. Each story is short but still enjoyable. I am almost 50 hours into the game and only 30% into the game. It's fun.

As someone who is usually into shorter games, I adored the eight mini-stories in place of a huge JRPG-sized overarching story. Each arc felt easily digestible, and I felt that each of the stories was memorable in their own way. I have heard from JRPG fans that they dislike the game *because* it is eight mini-stories, so maybe this is a good game if you aren't typically into JRPGs? Your mileage may vary either way. Do note the stories aren't completely disconnected - I can't say more on that without spoiling something.

Gameplay-wise it feels pretty standard for a JRPG. I did make some of the questlines trivial by leveling up too much before starting them, and that feels easy to do when you effectively have eight possible quest lines at any given point. The day-night cycle is neat and creative, although not fundamentally game-changing by itself.

All in all, I enjoyed the game and would happily recommend it. I would say wait for it to go on sale - it's not my absolute favorite game from this decade or anything - but it is fun and full of character.
