Good game, balancing can be a bit weird sometimes. But overall, a pretty solid game

After more than 100 hours of starting runs and not finishing them, I finally got around to beating this game and it was an amazing experience.

I'm gonna write this review from the perspective of someone who only played normal difficulty, because I'm honestly not good enough to attempt harder modes.

Practically speaking, Our Adventurer Guild (gonna call it OAG for short from here on) is very similar in concept and execution to Darkest Dungeon (turn-based rpg gameplay with a light management sim component and randomly generated characters, though thankfully OAG also gives the option of having custom-made ones), though obviously with a much brighter theme and its own unique stuff. It's also very clearly inspired by D&D and Pathfinder, considering the dice roll checks that happen in-game and the combat system that plays like a trpg with Action Points to manage.
The artstyle is honestly really charming and I consider it very competent, very reminiscent of old times, though some of the customization options for the adventurers look less good than others. It's also a lot of fun to see just how much the art itself improves the deeper you go into the campaign.
Some of the music goes unfathomably hard (while a bit crunchy and low quality, the track that plays during the Jotun story mission and the first dragon fight is an absolute banger) and I honestly wish there was a way to access the soundtrack.
On to the actual gameplay, I had a lot of fun with it. While the management part of the game is pretty simple and at times a bit of a pain to deal with (the mood mechanic works well in the context of the game and as a deterrent to not just overlevel right away but I'd rather not have to deal with it at all; though that's just me and my dislike for management mechanics in general), it's still enjoyable; minmaxing adventurer stats and getting their builds going feels very rewarding. The combat system is engaging enough, reminiscent of something like Disgaea, with a large variety of viable strategies (with a little tryharding I was able to beat the game without any casters, that's pretty cool) and it can get pretty deep when you get into trying to make certain combos work. It does tend to feel kinda slow in the midgame specifically, reason for which I'd always avoid enemy encounters during miscellaneous quests. I personally didn't mind the enemy spam in some of the harder fights, I thought it was perfectly manageable, but I can see it being a problem for a lot of people.
Lastly, for the writing and story... I was honestly really surprised. It's tropey yes, but nonetheless very competently written. The named characters are all very endearing, they all have something interesting going on and it's actually a good incentive to keep playing. The plot is relatively simple but it's elevated by the writing in general, despite a weak start, it only gets better as it progresses.

Plus there's some absolutely badass concepts just baked into the game (Dragon Knight goes so hard)

Now OAG isn't without its flaws, without the scouting feature, good luck finding adventurers that hold up during the later stages of the game since stat requirements for ability checks go completely off the rails; there are more than a few grammatical errors and typos scattered throughout; the balancing for some of the classes is really strange, and the lack of a Master level class for each corresponding advanced class feels slightly wrong (Guardian absolutely needs a higher class to not be stuck as a command-skill-spamming unit... which is fine but when the point of your class is to make other classes play the game in your stead it just feels kinda wrong); enemies go way too hard on the counter-spamming in the later portions of the game (having played using only martials, it's very annoying; I realize it's not the intended way to play but when a lot of martial-type enemies can easily outpower your own martial classes by doing very little, it's kinda irritating), and the random nature of some events required to get specific equipment is really annoying (Ferdinand is one thing, the moon ore for the Moon Sword was such a pain in the ass that I gave up on it)

And as a minor nitpick, not really a piece of criticism, I wished there would be more gay rep in the game. Don't get me wrong, the adventurers themselves can be gay (though at a very low chance unless you change parameters in the game files, which I did) and romance is a thing that happens but it would've been nice to see it happen for the named characters as well (Luana and Rogue kinda have that vibe going on but who can say). Again that's just me being weird about it, not an actual issue at all.

I know Green Guy has stated in a few updates that they mean to leave the game behind (after releasing a DLC sometime soon, which I'm really excited for) and that they see a lot of flaws in it, but I still wanted to sing OAG some praise because I got weirdly passionate about it.
