This update moves most of the new settings that were added in the April Fools' Day update into their own sub menu, "Silly settings". This includes the following settings:

Random square modification
No hints
Earn Nonobucks for solving puzzles
Happy squares
Tiny text mode
ALL CAPS MODE!!!!
all lower case mode
Title Case Mode

The only option that was left in its place was "Show puzzle grid," since that one's not actually that silly.

This update also makes some changes to the title screen puzzle background animation, aimed at reducing how distracting it is. There are now two types of animations: the original one, and a new one where the squares are randomly changed. The new animation type is now the default. To change it, go to Settings > Animations > Title screen animation type.

You can also now change the speed of the title screen animation, at Settings > Animations > Title screen animation speed. There are three options, and the fastest is the original speed. It now defaults to "medium."

Additionally, you can now set how faded the animation appears both in the title screen and in other scenarios where it is visible in the background. These options are also located in Settings > Animations, under the other ones. It now defaults to 60% faded in the main menu and 95% faded in puzzle select scenarios.

To get it back to the way it originally appeared, if you preferred that, you would set it as follows:

Title screen animation type: Original
Title screen animation speed: Fast
Title screen animation fade amount (main menu): 0
Title screen animation fade amount (puzzle select): 90

Lastly, this update adds divider lines into the settings menus for better readability and to group together related settings, and some of the settings within menus have been rearranged.

Update 4.01.25 includes a number of exciting new settings!

Random square modification

For those craving some more challenge when solving a puzzle, this new option (located at Settings > Puzzle > Random square modification), when enabled, causes a random square to be randomly changed at random intervals! Sure to keep you on your toes!

No hints

If that's not enough, for the truly hardcore, a new option has been added that disables hints entirely! When this option is enabled, Nonozle becomes officially the hardest nonogram game in existence. Good luck! (Settings > Puzzle > No hints)

Happy squares

This option, located at Settings > Puzzle > Puzzle appearance > Happy squares, makes all the squares happy! Why wouldn't you want to enable this option????

Tiny text mode

With this option enabled (Settings > Appearance > Other appearance settings > Tiny text mode), the text becomes small and hard to read. Get your reading glasses ready! It's like the opposite of accessibility!

ALL CAPS MODE!!!!

TO ADD A LITTLE MORE EXCITEMENT TO THE GAME, TURN ON ALL CAPS MODE!!!! (SETTINGS > APPEARANCE > OTHER APPEARANCE SETTINGS > ALL CAPS MODE!!!!) SEEMS PRETTY SELF-EXPLANATORY!

all lower case mode

this mode (settings > appearance > other appearance settings > all lower case mode) makes most text lower-case, with nary a capital letter in sight, like that trendy thing you saw that one time. way cool.

Title Case Mode

Turn This Mode On To Make The Text Look Like This. It's Like Everything Is A Title! (Settings > Appearance > Other Appearance Settings > Title Case Mode)

Earn Nonobucks!

Nothing makes a game better like its own currency! With this option enabled, you earn one Nonobuck for every square in every puzzle that you solve during a session. Regrettably, microtransactions on which to spend the Nonobucks have not been added yet. Also, your Nonobucks total is not saved between sessions. When this option is enabled, your current Nonobucks total is shown in the upper right corner of the game window. (Settings > Puzzle > Earn Nonobucks for solving puzzles)

Puzzle grid toggle

You can now hide the puzzle grid if desired. (Settings > Puzzle > Puzzle appearance > Show puzzle grid)

Other changes

Moved the puzzle hint size increase option to be under puzzle appearance settings (Settings > Puzzle > Puzzle appearance > Hint number size increase)
Adjusted the info text for both font size increase options
Renamed "Block font (alternate)" to "Block font (adjusted)" for better clarity
Renamed the "Default" option of square overwrite behavior to "Overwrite selectively" for better clarity
Fixed game reconstruction sometimes not occurring when it needed to when all settings are reset to their defaults
Changed the drawing of puzzle grid elements to ignore grid line width (because of the new option to hide the puzzle grid)
Fixed the three high resolution font sizes manually calculating their encoding (letter positions, letter kerning) each time (they now read their encoding data from the fontencoding.bin file)
Fixed a minor bug where the text in the info pop-up for increasing menu font size was one step delayed in font size changes
Changed the default puzzle square animations to "Grow" (for adding) and "Grow inward (reversed)" (for removing)
Changed letter kerning to space out adjacent capital letters more
Refactored settings menu creation code so that it's it's slightly less spaghetti-like

Abstract puzzles: some feedback and questions

Well, what can I say. People complained about main game's puzzles being too easy and gоd dаmn you've delivered upon that. These abstract puzzles are significantly harder (one of the hardest sets on Steam so far), that's for sure. I just wanted to say thanks for this puzzle set and provide a bit of feedback on it. I was writing down levels that gave me serious trouble, i.e. I had to quit and return to them later to look again - often multiple times. But I did manage to solve them. Such puzzles would be:...

[COMPLETE] Pokemon Picross!

[Request][Puzzle Assist] Short cut to "Indicate lines that can be worked on"

I previously suggested a faster way to toggle the "check if puzzle correct" and you put it in the game and it's made my time so much more enjoyable. On trickier puzzles, I just tap it from time to time to see if I'm going in the right direction. I'd like to request the same treatment for the "Indicate Lines that can be worked on". I'd like a toggle button on the screen that I can hit. I don't like having it on for the whole puzzle, but on bigger, more complex puzzles, from time to time I need to go into ...

This update adds two new options, both under Settings > Appearance, designed to help with legibility on small screens.

The first (Menu text size increase) allows you to increase the relative size of most of the text of the game by up to two increments. In some places (control editor screens, sound and playlist screens, and so on), the text of some buttons is automatically sized to fit the screen, so that text can still be small, but in most instances the text will increase in size.

The second (Hint number size increase) allows you to increase the size of hint numbers in puzzles by up to two increments. Note that this can make the hints appear cramped.

This update also makes minor adjustments to most of the built-in themes (with the exceptions of the Purple, Ice Blue, Light Blue, and Print themes, which were already fine), primarily to increase the visibility of faded hints. This does come at the expense of faded hints not contrasting as well against unfaded hints, but I think it is for the best. In any case, if there's anything you don't like about a theme, you can always create a copy of it, adjust it to your liking, and then use that copy instead.
