Don't bother with the single player, it's terrible... The multiplayer with bots is a 10/10 experience.

It's very different from the first game, but there seemed to be a heavier focus on multiplayer than the story this time around. The multiplayer back in the day was a lot of fun with friends, and there's a ton of maps, but on the PC port here you can only play against bots. With that said it's still fun to spend time on now and then. The weapons are actually pretty cool despite a lack of impact. I absolutely love the Nano GL design.

The story mode is incredibly short and ridiculous with seemingly cut content at every turn. It doesn't hold a candle to RF1. In fact it's hard to tell what's really going on in the bigger picture until the "twist" because it feels like things just skip over important information. Story beats are sudden and just all over the place. The plot twist at the time back in...03? I think?...was predictable even then, but honestly... I had fun with the game. I love the atmosphere of the levels. The vibe of the world is great.

This PC port somehow plays a little worse than the console versions, but if you can find it on sale I'd say it's worth a playthrough. I'm recommending on the assumption that it is being purchased at a discount.
