It's a role-playing game in the most literal context, and you are called to play the role of the stern-yet-sentimental security officer. So if you're interested in that, as well as robots, lesbians, IBS, light bondage, and a truly gorgeous set of sprites, check it out.

What a treat.

The writing makes or breaks a visual novel and The Gun Dog is very well written sci-fi story with characters that you love, hate and/or empathize with. This combined with wholesome retro PC-98 aesthetics and an awesome soundtrack(I even bought it separately after finishing the game) made it really special to me.

I would not recommend this one, The story at first is pretty nice and I feel is engaging but it drops the ball pretty hard near the end I feel, it left me feeling hallow. I would refund but sadly i'm past that window.

Too much text per text box. 4 lines of text dump is way too much and i havethe urge to just skip them. should be at most 2 lines. both retro and modern fonts are hard to read.
Dialogues has the energy of "talks a lot but not saying much". dialogues need to get to the damn point.
Too little sound effects and too boring bgm. bgm has like 20 second loop then play that for 5 minutes straight makes mute the game,
Add those text sound effects like undertale or a beeping sound when you advance dialogue like pokemon (those guys figured it out in 1996 cmon people).
