I've had this game for about 10 years. It taught me everything I know. If I had bought it through steam Id likely have a couple thousand hours at this point. This is hands down the best way to learn to play an instrument. Get the CDLC tool off of ignition forge and play any song you can think of, the minigames are awesome. This is a perfect game, and unfortunately Ubisoft owns it so all future releases are bad. Buy it!

Great tool to help with practicing!

Easily one of the best ways to learn guitar ever. Any reviews complaining of continued support issues are missing the point of the game. I started this prior to having real guitar lessons, and it gave me incredible ability to play riffs or entire songs before taking any real lessons. I am now an incredibly capable guitarist, able to learn most songs simply with a tab based on the strength and skill I have built from this game.

That said: DO NOT use this as your only means of practicing. My guitar lessons are the only reason I am able to work with other musicians for jamming or playing songs. Rocksmith simply doesn't look at music theory enough. Use this to learn how to play the fundamentals, not to become a master of the instrument. It's useful and fun for learning songs even while you are taking lessons though.

Overall this is an easy 10/10 game. It makes practicing fun and makes it very easy to quickly learn songs. My only complaint is that it doesn't adequately examine some of the technicalities and music theory of guitar.
