During the Toledo Matsuri in-person event, I was able to spot some bugs and notice that certain elements needed adjustments to improve the player experience.

This quick and small update is intended to fix the issues I observed during the event and also to introduce an improvement focused on the upgrade menus when capturing a building.

The improvement makes it so that, when the camera is zoomed out, the upgrade menu automatically scales up as well, allowing for better visibility. Additionally, I’ve added some visual feedback when hovering over the buttons, which was previously missing. Here’s a quick look at that change:
Here’s a list of the changes made in this update:

• The Necromancer had a bug that prevented it from summoning troops.
  
• Anti-air defenses, the "Needles", did not speed up along with the game speed.
  
• The "exit match" button removed the dark overlay of the pause screen.
  
• Upgrade menus when capturing a building now also scale up when the camera is zoomed out, making them easier to see.
  
• Upgrade buttons are now highlighted when you hover over them.
  
• Upgrade descriptions now appear regardless of which of the three options you are selecting.
  
• Continuously pressing the "Cancel Invasion" button would cause the game to freeze.
  
• The "Shinigami" skin from the Toledo Matsuri event had a bug and couldn’t be obtained.
  
• Spell cooldown numbers were not visible in Realm 5 (Nevura); they’ve been changed to appear in black.
  
• Flag numbers were also not visible in Realm 5 (Nevura); they’ve been changed to appear in black.
  
• Some bushes had incorrect depth values, causing them to appear over other objects in the scene.
  
• The defense stats panel would appear even when the final menu or camera mode was active.

Countless Army dresses up in Japanese theme to attend Toledo Matsuri!
Update 1.4.0 brings several new features, including the implementation of a mini post-game expansion that adds six new maps, four new defenses, and two new effects; the rebalancing of some final troops that were too strong, bug fixes, and… Lucas now has a voice!

But let’s go step by step. On the weekend of April 5-6, Dos Estrellas will attend the Toledo Matsuri in person. To celebrate, during the two weeks following the release of 1.4.0, there will be an in-game event available from April 3 to April 17.


During this event, you can unlock up to 6 different skins to dress your troops in a Japanese theme.

• Skeletal dogs: Kitsune.
  
• Emaciated: Kodama.
  
• Knight: Samurai.
  
• Banshee: Japanese Ghost.
  
• Reaper: Shinigami.
  
• Bothworlder: Tengu.

To unlock these skins, your troops must pass through the Torii scattered across the 6 maps.

This new content focuses on the Lich’s quest to find an ancient powerful artifact. Will you be able to conquer the new maps and find it? Though… who knows? Maybe the artifact isn’t even in this part of Arreit.


Six new maps with volcanic and maritime themes.
Four new defenses have been added for the expansion:
Lava rivers now cause burns to troops.
Rivers also slow down troop movement across them.


Additionally, defenses now take troop type into account, being stronger against some types and weaker against others. To reflect this, defenses now display a sign where you can see their name, damage type, weaknesses, and strengths.

Troops also have new information. Now, icons will appear next to them to indicate possible status effects.
For those who feel this new information clutters the battlefield with too many icons, it can be disabled with a keyboard/controller shortcut.

Both new features are disabled in "hard" difficulty mode.


Some troops that were too strong in the late game have been adjusted:

• Dragon now takes twice as long between ability uses.
  
• Bansheeunit count reduced from 8 to 6 per division.
  
• Observer unit count reduced from 9 to 6 per division.
  
• Necromancer summoning soldiers now summons 1 instead of 2.

Additionally, the game has been fully translated into Japanese! Starting today, you can select this language from the options menu.


Now Lucas has small voice lines to add more personality to the game. You will hear him during skin selection, skill tree upgrades, and in story events such as capital conquests, the beginning, and the end…

For those who want to hear Lucas everywhere, I’ve enabled the cinematic to replay when reattempting any capital.
