I really only play Dominions single-player. This makes me a pretty small minority of the target market of the game. I am a huge fan of Dominions 5 but never really was able to commit to the game because the computer opponents would, even with mods, create ridiculous armies filled with chaff units and tons and tons of independent units. It was difficult to find computer armies that felt like they were appropriate for the factions being played,

Dominions 6 has changed that considerably. I haven't installed any of the updated single-player mods and I am seeing better, more thematic, armies being assembled by the computer opponents. This one factor has changed the game considerably and made it more interesting and fun to play single-player.

Additionally, the new Cave layer has made opponents like Agartha far more trouble to deal with. Having armies pop up in the middle of your territory from a cave entrance you didn't pay attention to can put a wrench in your plans. The number of approach vectors for enemy threats has expanded.

Its as brilliant as D5, and somehow "feels" nicer and looks nicer (even though it looks the same) when playing. I cant quite put my finger on why, but its nice. Battles are 50% larger overall, and the UI is improved.

The only bad thing is the way the devs "locked" the music.
For those of us who had a great love for Dominions 5's music, to the point where it created a cozy nostalgic feeling we dont want to disappear, Dominions 6 has entirely new music, in a different style.

It is more medieval and slightly "space-y" in parts.
It is NOT like Dominion 5's very high fantasy LOTR-style mystery-astral-holy feel.

And you cant just mod it, because the way the devs coded it, ANY changes in the music files stops the game from booting. And there is NO "music" folder you can just dump files in.

You CAN copy over the music files from D5 and rename them to the same filenames as the D6 music, but then obviously you LOSE the D6 music rather than ADDING to it....

You also cannot listen to the files in any audio player. So you have no clue which file is which track, to decide what to replace.

You have no clue which are combat tracks that play in combat, and which are overworld tracks. So you cannot match with D5 properly.

Its ridiculous.
Just let the game load ALL music files in the folder, without restrictions.
