Was always online actually added to this game when it originally wasn't ?

I'm almost certain having offline mode was one of the reasons i got it all those years ago on release. I'm not even sure always online was even a thing back then. Especially for games like this with a big focus on the story and single player part. I just had a quick go to check. I forgot how atmospheric this game was but never really got around to playing it again like i planned to back then....

What is this BS with Epic overlay?

I bought the game a few years ago and finally got the itch to play Homeworld games and after launching it it then tries to download Epic overlay? First time I launched this game it never tried to download anything from Epic. A few years later now its gonna download an Epic extension WHEN IM USING STEAM? So I tried to run the game offline/ wifi off, and I cant even start a mission nor edit game settings. Can anyone explain on whats happened?...

I recommend because I enjoyed the gameplay.

Like many I am bothered by the online requirement and the Epic Store install.

Game is on the shorter side so buy on sale.
I liked the story and the units.
Reminded me of Ground Control (late 90s).
Didn't try multiplayer.

General the game is ok. The storie is nothing to the level of HW. But what REALLY hurts this pos are the AI both of the enemy but also your own vehicles. I have now tried to complete mission 13 for I don't know how many hours but at after some time on the map repair just stops working so it is essentially imposible to complete the mission. I am now giving up on completing it. Have spend too many hours of sparsly free time on this not all that good game.
