We have now found out the cause for the launch error "Unrecoverable error: TRender/DeviceDX11.cpp (line 458)" and we are currently working on to fix it. Update: it has now been fixed. Please report here if you are still experiencing this error.

Thanks to the rise of AI, using voices is extremely cheap. IIRC they partly shut this game down because they couldn't afford / didn't want to pay for the text-to-speech costs. That's way in the past now and using voices and generative AI even is surprisingly cheap. I think they could totally bring this game back, and rather cheaply too....

I Know no-one barely plays Velvet Sundown anymore but im on windows 10 and this comes up ERROR:TNetwork/ConnectionError.cpp (line 83): Network Error 10061 - Socket connect failed to 'ec2-54-161-157-103.compute-1.amazonaws.com:30043' - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. This error is unrecoverable - the application will now exit....

I'm happy to announce that our text-to-speech feature is now run on a dedicated server and should be faster than ever! The problems with the voices should be now in the past but do let us know if you are still facing any issues.
