There is a lot of love put into it and it has great potential.

The game has that retro vibe with the CRT filter, it feels and looks very nostalgic the atmosphere is very good.
I ran into a few rough spots. Combat was hard at first. I didn’t realize you could hover over enemies for headshots, which do way more damage. After that things got easier, but it took a few deaths to notice. The stamina system also felt pretty limiting, it drains fast, so running and fighting both end up feeling sluggish, which really drag down the pacing and made me feel slow.
Some of the interactive stuff was a bit confusing. Like, there was a door marked "Closed Today," and I had to click it twice before the attached note popped up which was a trigger to continue the quest. It wasn’t clear right away what I was supposed to do so i only clicked once and spent the next 5 minutes going around the building.

The lighting looks great and adds to the mood, but sometimes the darkness made it hard to see where I was going. It was easy to miss paths, on top of that the top-down view sometimes made it very hard to notice doors due to the angle.
Even with those issues, the world the game builds is really compelling and looks quite big.

Is Blight Night a survival horror? An ARPG? Yes. Well, It's kind of both of them, and to its credit it combines them very well. There's a great understanding here of someone taking the blueprint and really making their own vision from it, and it shows. If you're hungry for anything that's actually got a new flavor and does it well in the survival horror niche, then definitely give Blight Night a try- I think you might be surprised at how much you'll like it.

Not exactly a game for me, but I can see the quality and potential. Very reminiscent of early Resident Evil. I think it's vastly overpriced though, I'd say wishlist and wait for ~50% off sale or so. If you enjoy a slower, thoughtful, retro horror then you should find a lot of fun here.
