I have about 120-ish hours in this game. I've had it for years and played off and on over time. How is the player base? Is there still enough room to claim land or is it all gobbled up by long time consistent players? What is the overall state of things in game?...

Pretty cool game! Like Minecraft/NoMan'sSky +
Totally ditched the oversimplified pixel art and the non-directional realism of each for a fun, creativity-fueling middle road.
Now, I DID have a little difficulty getting started out (AVOID going to dangerous worlds! If you plop a portal on the wrong one, press "E" instead of going through and try again. It'll warn you when you're looking through.), I was able to connect with an experienced friend, and he helped me relocate and get my feet under me.
Seems like a bit of a grind, but also seems like the work will be rewarding in the end.
