Alpha Protocol review

This is the worst of Obsidian games easily. It has a good basis, secret agent RPG but the execution is very lacking. There are choices and consequences that are just fine and the writing isn't bad either but the gameplay is just bleh. The combat is awful, second worst of any RPG with shooting mechanics, Fallout 3 combat managing to be worse (though that game shines in every other area). Stealth isn't very good either but it is still better than playing gun-based characters. Maybe some day this game will get a remastered overhaul and I honestly wouldn't mind that as long as they really improved on the gameplay and animations (which are at best humorous). I'm sorry but this one just doesn't really work for me and I like Obsidian games in general very much.

I just couldn't get past the clunky gameplay. Maybe a great story is in here somewhere, but it's hidden behind a very tedious, boring and frustrating gameplay.
