Great game! Story is engaging and the mechanics keep you engaged for a while. Unfortunately, they really only hold up for the first twelve hours of game-play, then you realize your only halfway done. It becomes a bit of a chore, which might be on purpose though maybe I'm giving too much credit to the devs there. The story beats tend to come very slow which is my biggest issue since that was what was keeping me in for the long haul, It would be a much better game cut in half with the story beats being much closer together.

I recommend it, but probably when it's on discount unless you can endure the length.

There's just so much I love about this game:

The story, the style, the "Another World"-like pixel-texture animations, the narrative, voice acting, sleek UI and how it integrates the environment, the music, moral dilemmas. The repeatability.

The gameplay itself is not awesome: effect modifiers are hidden, and sometimes you can only wonder what causes officer death, failure to catch a criminal or graduate at qualification. A top-notch detective and two best cops, backed by SWAT team can randomly fail to arrest the suspect at the end of the day, which is frustrating. But that's realistic, and not the actual cause for a negative review.

Given the one-slot profile and lack of autosaves at certain days the re-runs are mandatory until you practically memorize all the calls, the shots, the chips, and the follow-ups, but it still feels unpredictable. That is also not the actual cause for a negative review.

Certain events are scripted so much you might want to punch your monitor. Best employee leaving at the end of the shift is daunting.

The ending is embezzling and the last mission is dumb, and no matter if you achieve your objectives or don't, — a gloom nothingmatteredness is also OK for a grim story of Freeburg sincity entourage. All that is not the actual cause for a negative review.

Yes, I both love and hate this game, and it's worth every penny. I'm not recommending it only because negative reviews don't usually get lost, and Steam users tend to read all of them...

The reason this game is that much important is because it serves as a vivid reminder that 911 was a police code for "theft" before 911.

I've been playing this game for a while now. It's honestly really fun. You can choose which calls to respond to, provided your other officers aren't already busy. You can choose who to hire, fire, or just completely screw over. It's hard trying to balance requests from your officers and City Hall, but it makes the game more interesting. I would recommend it.
