Hi, i have the problem that there is only a black screen?! audio is working

I was just wondering something here. Would it be possible to have "text speed: infinite" setting working also with voice acting, so that you could click to the next sentence. The text doesn't sync well with acting, and it bugs me quite much. Sure, you can skip the dialogue with mouse when voice acting is turned on, but the problem is, that it skips ALL of the lines, not just one. I remember this game from 2006 - I played a demo then and have talked with the developers about it (they were naphtalite.com then). I have played the full game on Steam in 2014, and it was still very nice! But today it does not work for me at all - the weird error says "Steam must be running to play this game!" So it crashes on the very start. And of course Steam is running for me - how else would I download the latest version?...

I'm currently trying to 100% the game's Steam achievements, and I've managed to softlock the game twice now during my speedrun attempts.
