Neverwinter Nights is a great game that stood the test of time and offers endless replay value via the toolset, the original campaign modules and community modules as well as many of the mmo like persistent worlds being hosted online. (Check out the list here: https://nwn.beamdog.net)

Based on the DND 3.5 rules this game has the perfect balance of pace, combat mechanics and immersion and I would highly recommend picking up a copy and starting with the original campaign. From there it's easy to dip into all of the other great modules included with the Enchanced Edition or any of the amazing persistent worlds available for to all players for free.
