Valve Launches Public Beta For New Steam UI

Valve has just announced a public beta has just started for the new Steam user interface. As with every beta, you can opt-in to the new UI by going to your Steam settings. To opt in, all you need to do is click here while Steam is running, and under Beta Participation, choose "2010 UI Update".
As of today, a new version of Steam is available through a public opt-in beta, open to all Steam users. This Steam update provides several major upgrades to the platform's core functionality. We've overhauled the Steam user interface to enhance the way you already buy and play games, adding more info about the things that matter — getting games, playing them with friends, and staying current in the gaming world.

Left 4 Dead 2 Demo Details

Valve has cleared up one of the two mysteries surrounding the Left 4 Dead 2 demo announcement, confirming to Shacknews that the demo will be exclusive to both Steam and Xbox 360 pre-order customers on October 27. The demo will be for PC and Xbox 360 customers who preorder the game. The company did not clarify if the later public demo will be released the following week on November 3, as some retailers are reporting.
