Once upon a time, Invoker was experimenting with his orbs. He wanted to make them more alive, more vivid, more intelligent. He started experimenting with a quas orb. He gave it lots of his arcane power and the orb grew larger and more intelligent. However when the Quas orb grew more intelligent it decided that it wants to be free, it wanted to try his luck as stand alone hero. Thus Io was put into Dota. The once STR modifying orb, became a STR hero that influenced by the intelligence of his master is plays as an INT hero. It was secretly jealous of Invoker having orbs around his head orbiting so he made his own orbs too, but they were bad copies, they couldn't last forever like Invoker's do.
