NT needs more clans

Those who are interested in competitive play without the requisite clans or league structure should check out NEOTOKYO ARENA: http://test-steamproxy.haloskins.io/groups/ntarena

This will probably be the easiest source of competitive play in NT, especially now that STA has been delayed.
Sgt.Sausage 1 Aug, 2009 @ 8:31pm
i would post in the other group but their nly 4 members. I have played comp. tf2 and some scrims in l4d and would like to play in neotoyko as well.

He never said it was a vet game. He said he was a vet. Jeez~

And typically when you say "games", that implies more than one. Just a thought, but I only see CoD4. Which was never great competitively anyway.
Dickard 17 Jul, 2009 @ 8:21pm
CoD4 is a vet game? Since when?

@Laurence "The Demon" Willcock.

you need to have class limits otherwise teams will go all 7 recon or all 7 support. doesn't sound like a great tactic but it will happen sooner or later.
freelance 13 Jul, 2009 @ 9:32pm
Also, if you have a team already prepared, please send me a PM so we can talk about the formation of leagues. Clan leaders, or people interested in creating clans, if you're interested in playing competitively, PM ME!
freelance 13 Jul, 2009 @ 9:05pm
The best way for you to help out right now is to gather your friends who play nt and create a clan. Even without servers or a surrounding community, a clan that is truly high caliber and able to compete with those teams already formed will add to the game's competitive community in a HUGE way at this point.

That said, any clans looking? We need to get a sort-of nt classifieds section going somewhere, because I'm sure there's plenty of people looking.
PapaKeys #xoxo 13 Jul, 2009 @ 9:13am
I know I could help out. Hit me up. btw i cant register on the radi-8 forums btw, for some reason I get no activation email. Anyway, just add me back to steam and chat. I run a succesful CSS team, and ive run clans for years. Heres my latest team/website. www.teamxoxo.com
whackO 12 Jul, 2009 @ 8:06pm
Becky, yours only supports 3v3. thats a bad idea. There needs to be more teamwork on competitive. not just a DM fest.

Just so you know, we ( my Group ) has successfully finished several mock tournament match plays, and held our first NeoTokyo Tournament ( {LINK REMOVED} ).

We hope to have other organizations do the same to get the word out to other players about the potential of the Half-Life 2 mod.

whackO 9 Jul, 2009 @ 2:00pm
CONTINUED- If it is a 6v6. Usually it would automatically apply with the 1 awp sniper.
whackO 9 Jul, 2009 @ 1:59pm
"We have been testing different team sizes in the pug channel and are still unsure what will happen with that. A few suggestions of 1 of each class must be present on a team have been mentioned, to prevent Support stacking. Also a limit of 1 AWP was suggested because of it's killing power obviously. FF will be enabled, Friendlies will take 50% of the damage you deal to them, but no FF mirror. That seems to be the current status of competitive play. "

WEWT! But it would be a constant killing fest with only 3 players though. I would say more of a WoW example. 1 Tank support because theyre just hard to kill when your almost in hand to hand combat. OR 2 if there is a 6v6 rule. There should be allowed 2 recons. They have such little health and they are not that much of a flexible class. They are really built for one purpose, t silently kill and communicate. I choose 1 side of this. 2 Assault finally but they cannot have the same weapon. Same goes for the 2 Support class rule
whackO 9 Jul, 2009 @ 1:47pm
I got my own setup that often gives me 2 kills when I got my moving and groovin' on.
whackO 9 Jul, 2009 @ 1:46pm
I got my own setup that gets me 2 kills. Only if theyre not both support class lol

Any reason why 5 other than to make NT "moar of a CS clone"? I think with 5 the maps are going to feel too empty, and 6 adds a likely 3rd assault or at least someone who can be utility.
i dnt play this game 8 Jul, 2009 @ 3:45pm
5v5
Dickard 8 Jul, 2009 @ 3:17pm
Win limi of 10? then you get tied games :/
Knives Two-Seven 8 Jul, 2009 @ 2:01pm
We tried a win limit of 10 and the game lasted too long, 7 or 5 will be much more ideal. 11 or 13 would be worse than 10
Dickard 8 Jul, 2009 @ 2:42am
I agree with most of thatt, but first to 7 games may run a bit short. First to 11 or 13 sounds better.
Quavo Ratatouille 8 Jul, 2009 @ 12:27am
Hey dudes Just throwin my ideas out here take them how you please. Id like to see 6v6. We can all agree that the maps are huge and the game can be a bit slow with only 5 people per team.

From there i agree with Freelance here. 3r/3a/2s setup. I asume we are calling the Bolt rifle the AWP? Id like to see that stay in. If a player is skilled enough to get the 20 points required then let it be. Perhaps we could find a way to remove alot of the bonus points you get.

For example if you survive a round and win you get 2 points, if you die you get 1. Force it so you can only get 1 no matter what, and like 4 point bonus for capping the ghost. This would require players to win a decent number of rounds and get alot of kills before we see autoshotgun/ bolt sniper action in the game.

3:15 timelimit sounds good considering it takes 15 seconds before the game actually starts the strat time or w/e you want to call it.

Id also say first to 7.
freelance 7 Jul, 2009 @ 10:38pm
Personally I believe first to 7 is the way to go, as a lot of pubs have even been running that format successfully and even long games don't absorb so much time.

One idea that was thrown around for the match format would be to allow each team to pick a map. The teams would play both, and in the event of a tie the team with the most total rounds would win. In the event of a further tie, the game would go into an overtime map of the away team's chosing.

Class limits... assuming 6v6, I'd say 3r/3a/2s. AWP off is fine with me, this shouldn't be another Counter-strike situation (or one per team). C4 off is probably going to be a common request, as is FF off, although it should probably be left on.

Thanks much for helping this along zack!
Knives Two-Seven 7 Jul, 2009 @ 9:45pm
Oh and right now we are playing with 5, 7, and 10 round win limits. 5 rounds will cut down on LTs so the match doesn't drag out with AWPs, MGs, and Autoshotties all day. 7 is being considered for the same reason as 5, except with 7 the match lasts about 15 minutes longer in theory. and 10 rounds didn't work out all that well in my personal opinion but still being considered I think
Knives Two-Seven 7 Jul, 2009 @ 9:43pm
Right now I have a config in the works, which is pretty much done. We decided on 3:15 rounds, leaving 3 minutes playable after the setup time, or 3 minutes has worked best so far. We have been testing different team sizes in the pug channel and are still unsure what will happen with that. That seems to be the current status of competitive play.
whackO 7 Jul, 2009 @ 9:01pm
of course, 5:00 limit for each round, If you have noticed games go by sort of quickly. and in rare cases, some drag out to the 1v1.
whackO 7 Jul, 2009 @ 8:59pm
Simple changed settings:

mp_friendlyfire 0
no sprays
C4 Packs removed
Bunnyhopping allowed
No Gauss Sniper
mp_timelimit 5:00

Thats what I feel should be changed or a config for the game. I have yet to check for the other console commands that are similar to CS:S and TF2. Feel free to add anything else that should balance the competitive gameplay or should be changed to suit it.
whackO 7 Jul, 2009 @ 8:56pm
I'd like to see this sort of as a small off gotfrag-not-gotfrag recruitment place for the comments. heres mine:

I'm actually at pro level of recon that can capture the ghost and work well solo and with 1 other partner. Communication - CHECK. I drop teams and understand the game already and have found shortcuts that have not been found by anyone else.... to my knowledge.
Pick me up Gobby!

[and btw, i can TK fission like a BOSS!]
Laurence "The Demon" Wilcock 7 Jul, 2009 @ 12:37pm
I've actually got a small Australian NeoTokyo community of around forty people set up and am looking in to doing competitive events. Right now the way I've been planning it is five - seven people per team , seven utilises full use of the squad and five would definitely be the bare minimum of players. Personally I would want a long time limit, longer than the intended 2.5 minutes. The joy of a game like this is that rounds can go long and it's made for some pretty intense moments already. Best two out of three would be for proper events/tournaments moreso than say a war between two clans as they'll always pick how many games they want to play any way obviously. I'd say first to fifteen to round it out though that may be too many rounds for some. Would be interested to hear what you guys have come up with.
tok 7 Jul, 2009 @ 10:41am
I think it should play just like cs 5v5 15 round halves no class limit.
Moon Moon! 7 Jul, 2009 @ 6:29am
My opinion is that there should be about 7 people per team.

There should be no class limits.

Since rounds already have a maximum amount of time there should be no max time for an entire match, So there should be a round limit instead of a time limit. I think there should be 20 rounds per map (first to win 11 rounds wins the match). Depending on the map, 20 rounds per match should make the matches around 45 minute long.
whackO 6 Jul, 2009 @ 11:52pm
Setup-

5 Recons with knives and one support with a SHOTTY!
Dickard 6 Jul, 2009 @ 11:51pm
How about 6v6, 2 of every class but medics and demos
freelance 6 Jul, 2009 @ 10:31pm
5v5, 2 per class limit, best of 3 maps, first to 7 or 30 minutes per map

Y/N?
