They should have stuck to reviewing games instead of making Dean Takahashi look more competent by default. At least he just failed Mass Effect and Cuphead, and not the whole industry until out of a job, so that DentureBleat is still around.

The "woke" (or, rather, censorship/bastardizing alteration) part in CT PC is mainly present in form of rewritten "lolcowlization" texts (where characters use "modern lingo" quips/speech patterns) and some sprites being "slightly redone", if I recall correctly. Something akin to "Dragon Quest's BIGREDSMACKINGLIPS on Troll" moment, or "removal of innuendos". I'm not completely sure exactly which parts were "modernaudience"d, as I only touched that piece of crap once, on it's "release" (iykwim) date, and never got back to it ever since. If modders managed to largely improve/fix/repair that piece of crap, then I guess it's "fine", to each their own, but purely on a personal level I'd rather just run CT PSOne on original hardware (in my particular case, I currently use PS 2 for that, as I don't have a physical PSOne on my hands anymore) or at the very least emulate it (in Duck, POPS, or whatever else).

I don't recall any of that modern audience crap changes aside from the FMV removals. Ayla's Intro wasn't one of them, which suggests to me it was the violence of the other two that caused their removal.

The woke insertions that people might be remembering and attributing to Chrono Trigger is the awful treatment of another beloved 90s favorite, Secret of Mana.

@Kindred makes sense. No wonder the reviews were positve, compared to the Chrono Cross mixed. Is the modern audience stuff still there?
