Disco Elysium Review – A Masterpiece in Writing and Atmosphere

Disco Elysium is, without question, one of the best-written games of all time. It’s in my top 10—an absolute genius masterpiece that transcends typical video game storytelling. This isn’t just a game; it’s an experience, a work of literary brilliance wrapped in a deeply immersive world.

Writing & Story

The writing is Disco Elysium’s soul, and it is flawless. No other game has so perfectly captured the feeling of stepping into an unfamiliar world with no memory, no direction, and no idea who you are. The introspection, the raw existential dread, the sheer beauty of the dialogue—it’s unmatched. The way this game lets you shape its protagonist, Harry Du Bois, is nothing short of revolutionary. Every decision, every thought, every insane tangent feels organic and deeply personal.

And then there’s the voice acting. This is, without a doubt, the best voicework I have ever seen in a video game. The performances breathe life into every character, making them feel real, broken, and fully realized. The sheer depth of characterization makes Disco Elysium something truly special.

Gameplay & Mechanics

The game’s DnD-inspired mechanics serve as the perfect backbone for the experience. Every dice roll feels meaningful, every skill check has weight, and the Thought Cabinet is one of the most interesting role-playing mechanics ever created. You aren’t just choosing dialogue options—you are shaping a mind. The entire game is an internal conversation, a constant battle between the fragmented pieces of Harry’s psyche, and it works so well. I have no complaints about the mechanics—it’s as polished as it needs to be for the kind of game it is.

Atmosphere, Art & Music

The world of Revachol is unlike anything else in gaming. The art direction is a watercolor fever dream, a city rotting in its own history yet still alive with forgotten beauty. Every street corner, every ruined facade, every dimly lit bar tells a story.

And then there’s the music. SEA POWER did an insanely good job crafting the perfect soundtrack. Their score doesn’t just accompany the game—it is the game. It sets the tone, pulls you deeper into the world, and sticks with you long after you’ve put the controller down. I’ve been following SEA POWER for a long time, and to see them contribute to something as special as Disco Elysium is just incredible.

ZA/UM’s Fall & The Death of a Legacy

Unfortunately, as much as I love Disco Elysium, I can’t ignore the disaster that is ZA/UM’s internal collapse. Ilmar Kompus is a parasite who has gutted the future of this franchise. His actions have caused the company to lose value, canning two planned DLCs and an entire sequel in the process. Instead of allowing the original creators to expand on their brilliant vision, he’s clinging to the company like a leech, draining what’s left of its creative potential.

It’s heartbreaking. A studio that gave us something as beautiful as Disco Elysium is now just another cautionary tale of corporate greed swallowing artistic ambition.

Final Thoughts

Despite everything, Disco Elysium remains a singular work of art. No legal battle, no CEO’s greed, and no cancelled sequel can erase what this game achieved. It stands alone as one of the greatest games ever made—something that will be talked about for years to come. If you haven’t played it yet, you need to. Just don’t expect anything else from ZA/UM ever again.

Final Score: 10/10

Where to Play

If you want to experience Disco Elysium without funding the company that ruined its future, consider finding alternative ways to access the game. It can be found archived on archive.org if you want to play it without supporting ZA/UM.

Payday 3 launched with high expectations, promising a next-generation heisting experience. Instead, what players got was a broken matchmaking system, an always-online requirement that barely functions, and a severe lack of content that makes the game feel unfinished even years after release.

Matchmaking: A Complete Disaster

The biggest issue with Payday 3 isn’t even the lack of content—it’s simply getting into a stable game. Matchmaking is plagued with disconnections, and the forced crossplay means Overkill lobbies are constantly flooded with PS5 level 1s who don’t know what they’re doing. There’s no proper filtering system, no level gating, and no way to reliably find a decent crew unless you get extremely lucky.

Content Drought: An Empty Vault

Compared to Payday 2, this game is barren. Even after multiple updates, including the hyped Jacket update, there’s still nowhere near enough heists, weapons, or meaningful progression to keep players engaged. The endgame is just an endless grind, waiting for an update that will likely never fix the game’s fundamental problems.

Final Verdict: Skip It

At this point, Payday 3 isn’t worth the effort. It’s a game that actively works against you, from its awful matchmaking to its lack of content. If you’re looking for a solid heist experience, just go back to Payday 2—because Payday 3 has already hit the end of its content window, and there’s no real reason to stick around.

Game has been in development for roughly 5 years now and what they have to show for it is a halfbaked extraction mode ( was supposed to be open world ), pretty disappointing, of course its not done but this is an sad excuse for a beta

Gunfire Reborn Review:

Gunfire Reborn, a popular roguelike first-person shooter, has garnered significant attention since its release. However, despite the hype, I found the game to be quite overrated. Here's why:

Firstly, the game suffers from a complete lack of flow. The gameplay feels disjointed, with a noticeable interruption in the pacing that prevents any semblance of a smooth, engaging experience. Instead of a continuous stream of action and progression, players are frequently jarred by abrupt shifts in difficulty and random elements that disrupt the momentum.

Moreover, Gunfire Reborn is heavily stat-based. While some roguelikes strike a balance between player skill and character progression, this game leans excessively towards the latter. Success is often determined more by the numerical values of your stats and gear rather than your ability to master the game's mechanics. This can be frustrating for players who enjoy games that reward skill and strategy over grinding and luck.

In essence, if you're someone who prefers games that require skill, precision, and strategic thinking, Gunfire Reborn may not be for you. The game's reliance on stats and random elements undermines the importance of player skill, making it less appealing to those who seek a challenging and rewarding gameplay experience. The repetitive grind to improve stats and gear overshadows the potential for skill-based play.

Review: Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid isn’t just another zombie game. It's a relentless, unforgiving test of your survival skills where every decision can mean the difference between life and death. Set in a sprawling, open world teeming with the undead, this game strips away any power fantasy you might expect and throws you into a grim, realistic fight for survival.

Unlike other zombie games that make you feel invincible, Project Zomboid emphasizes vulnerability and realism. You aren’t some super-soldier mowing down waves of zombies. Instead, you’re just an ordinary person trying to navigate a world that has fallen apart. You’ll have to carefully manage your resources, fortify your safe house, and make tough decisions under pressure. The game forces you to think strategically about every move, whether it's scavenging for supplies or deciding when to fight or flee.

The detail in this game is staggering. From the way you need to manage your character's needs like hunger and sleep to the importance of your surroundings and weather, everything plays a role in your survival. The world is dynamic and unpredictable; you never know when a seemingly calm day will turn into a desperate scramble for safety. And that’s where the game shines—it creates a constant sense of tension and dread that keeps you on edge.

What truly sets Project Zomboid apart is how it crafts unique stories every time you play. Each run feels like its own tale of desperation and hope, where you learn from your mistakes and adapt to the ever-present threat of the undead. If you're looking for a survival game that’s immersive, challenging, and full of depth, Project Zomboid is a must-play.

Rating: 9/10 for a masterclass in survival horror that doesn’t hold your hand and leaves you craving more.

A Fall from Grace - Mordhau Review

As someone who was initially captivated by the promise of medieval battles in Mordhau, I am disappointed to say that the game has fallen off and the server experience has been nothing short of terrible.

One of the most frustrating aspects of Mordhau is the state of its servers. The game has experienced a significant decline in server performance, with frequent lag, connectivity issues, and long wait times to join matches. This has greatly impacted the overall enjoyment of the game, leading to frustrating and inconsistent gameplay experiences.

Moreover, the game has suffered from a lack of meaningful updates and improvements. While Mordhau initially garnered attention for its unique combat mechanics and intense multiplayer battles, the developers seem to have lost momentum in keeping the game fresh and engaging. The lack of new content, updates, and bug fixes has led to a stagnant and repetitive gameplay experience, leaving players craving for more.

Another issue is the toxic community that has developed within Mordhau. The game has been plagued by toxic behavior, including harassment, racism, and trolling, which can significantly detract from the overall enjoyment of the game. The lack of effective measures to address and mitigate this toxic behavior has contributed to a negative community experience.

Furthermore, the game's overall balance has also suffered. There have been persistent issues with weapon balancing, hit detection, and overall game mechanics that have not been adequately addressed, leading to frustrating and inconsistent gameplay experiences.

Overall, Mordhau has fallen off from its initial promise of intense medieval battles. The server performance issues, lack of meaningful updates, toxic community, and gameplay imbalances have all contributed to a disappointing experience. As a fan of the game, it's disheartening to see the decline in its quality and enjoyment, and I hope that the developers take decisive action to address these issues and bring back the game's former glory.
