i'm going to leave a positive review with a huge and important caveat: the fun in this game is 100% FRONT LOADED, the early and mid to late game is nothing short of a masterpiece and even if that's all you play the game is worth it. that being said, the end game is designed to pigeon hole you into only playing certain builds, and taking full advantage of mechanics you might not want to take advantage of (as well as some mandatory bosses being poorly designed). i was addicted and mystified my first 60 something hours and then just burnt out and over it for my last 10.

my only other complaint would be that the quests are a pain in the ass to do now if you dont plan on using a guide. in previous fromsoft games where areas are smaller and things are more or less on rails, you had a much higher chance of encountering quest objectives and quest npcs - with elden ring's massive open world things become a lot more complicated and to your average person most likely a game of luck.

even taking those two complaints into account the game is still like a 9/10, experience it while its fresh

Genuinely terrifying, and despite all the unity-wonkiness with the animations and skeletons it's very immersive. The voice integration for asking the ghost questions and communicating through in game radio is genius, highly recommend.

This game is mentally exhausting, would recommend.

Cars aren't nearly sensitive enough to setup changes, in some cases the car design is so bad that no setup can save it (i.e. the Forumla C cars which also have bugged tyres that don't hold heat unless you switch to wets). The A.I. on default difficulty settings drives like a drunk grandma on dry tracks, and drive at light speed on wet tracks. Have to keep task manager open on my second monitor because 70% of the time when I close the game it crashes and stops responding, resulting in my desktop being kept hostage and forcing me to restart my computer

Excellent metroidvania with a grim atmosphere and gripping, albeit highly cryptic, storytelling. Difficulty at times can be inconsistent with sudden spikes but that's part of the learning curve. Absolutely 100% recommend unless you have very little patience
