A great remaster of an amazing game—and probably my favorite Elder Scrolls title when it comes to the main plot and the world around the player. This remaster does a great job of being respectful to the source material while also changing a lot to make the core experience even better. The graphics, as you've probably already seen, are exceptional: lighting, textures (from small to large objects), water effects, weather, magic, NPC models, etc. They also changed some UI elements, making everything look very stylish and readable. There were also some changes to the leveling system, which is now a bit more similar to Skyrim’s, but it still maintains its Oblivion charm. And yes, the character creator is as fun as ever—with some new options for customisation, you’ll be fully able to create some horrific monstrosities. I also think they adjusted the music, voice acting, and overall audio to work better with modern audio devices. The combat system strongly resembles the original but feels a bit more dynamic, reactive, and less clunky. As I mentioned earlier, this remaster is very respectful to the original, so the main gameplay loop is still very recognizable, just with some quality-of-life improvements. Overall, if you liked the original Oblivion, you should be very pleased with this product. Beware of the system requirements, though—this game takes up a lot of storage space and is quite demanding to run. It’s not bad in enclosed areas, but FPS drops significantly in more open spaces. Still, I have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ "gaming" laptop, and I can play the game somewhat comfortably, so the optimization isn’t bad. If you have a decent PC, you shouldn’t face any major issues. The remaster also includes all DLCs and add-ons from the original version of the game. I also appreciate that they added Steam badges, point shop items, and achievements—because, well, why not? It’s a shame the game doesn’t have Steam Workshop support for mods (though you can still use console commands). Before I end this review, I must praise the artists who made the main artwork and the opening screen—this is truly one of the most epic things I’ve ever seen. In summary, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is an amazing remaster that deeply respects the original Oblivion from 2006. It features stunning new graphics, quality-of-life upgrades, and overall feels like a major improvement in every way, without losing its identity in the process.
