It goes without saying that dwarf fortress is one of the most important games ever made.
This version, is an excellent improvement and helps hugely with accessibility

Early Access Review
I took a lot of care to make sure that this review didn't come too early.

For a little background I have played both the original Mount and Blade, and Mount and Blade Warband

Fundamentally Bannerlord is an improvement on both original titles, however there will need to be various fixes and improvements before this becomes a huge distinction.

For me the combat is satisfying, a little different for veterans with the mindset of the previous games to comprehend, but satisfying. And a range of animation improvements worthy of a sequel.
If you are considering purchasing this game for multiplayer, I think that you will be satisfied with the current version.

HOWEVER

Singleplayer is at both times wonderful, and terrible.
- Smithing is a feature we didn't know we needed.
- Having minor characters in villages "Notables" is interesting as a feature. If a little shallow at the moment.
- The variety of Quests is a little disappointing, this is just something time will fix I'd expect.
- It's disappointing how many few scenes (castles, villages, maps in general) have not been implemented.
- The encyclopedia in game could be improved.
- Some dialogue has not been finished, again this will be improved in time
- Collision on the world map is a little bugged. AI keeps getting stuck. (including one instance where my wife was stuck on a cliff.
- Having a family - I averaged around two children a year which is biologically impossible
- Kingdom's conquer the map far too quickly, this is a balancing problem.

Time will tell if this game can live up to Warband and Mount and Blade as a series, but it has an undeniable foundation, with a range of intended functions that are innovations in the series.

Thank you for your time.

After the game-changing 1.6 patch Orc's Must Die Unchained has returned to it's roots in a very positive way.
I highly recommend trying it out, as it is as good as the original games.

Damn this game has a chunk of my life, perhaps not as much as Mount&Blade but still a chunk.

10/10 Would spend hours watching Lydia kill thousands of wolves again.
