Why wait years for optimisations and beefier rigs to deliver playable fps? Huff some copium and and treat those UE5 artifacts and awkward mouse smoothing as just another anomaly. Such is life in the Zone, always has been.

If you played the original you won't need any convincing. It's the same gripping gameplay elevated by some new mechanics and beautiful graphics, with quirky dialogues to punctuate the tense atmosphere. As a completionist I regret not buying the Separate Ways bundle but can't wait to experience that too.

It doesn't run on Windows 11 without some tweaking. If you can get it running it's hella fun until you reach Chapter 9 where there is a game breaking glitch. Some players have had luck lowering their settings and reverting to old drivers but I cannot be bothered man I'll just watch a recap until Space Marine 2 is out.

For a simple arcade racer with exciting story mode play NFS Heat instead of Unbound that's plagued by grindy gameplay and some goofy new mechanics. Missing QOL features like being able to sort your rides, toggling completed activities in map etc. may detract from replayability and be prepared to mute the music after 20 hours or so as the same 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tracks keep playing on repeat despite boasting a 50+ soundtrack.

It runs well enough on my system luckily. Steam overlay is disabled and achievements aren't triggered unless usage sharing and background services enabled are enabled in EA App. The remedy is to revert to Origin by looking up "F Off EA App" on GitHub even then I'd avoid any multitasking as memory leaks will cause stutters and eventual crash.
Once you get over those you can take in the beauty of this game and immerse yourself in some stimulating combat and platforming. Shame because Respawn has crafted an excellent ARPG which is a massive step up from Fallen Order but this port got the EAt s*** treatment. Still worth your time and money over what Ubisoft is shovelling in Star Wars: Outlaws

This Hot Pursuit update reeled me back in despite finishing it on PS5 and not having any progress carry over. If you got EA Play there will be even more freebies so give it a try as you will surely love it even if you aren't into racing games. I will consider buying it when it goes on sale next so I can keep coming back to play every major update. Thanks Criterion for keeping this game alive!
Unbound surpasses Heat in every way except for its inferior story mode which is still tolerable but the cash and XP rewards seem way more plentiful with Vol. 8 so I'm not complaining anymore. There are some new handling and boosting mechanics that raise the skill ceiling and I'm having a blast walking over veterans with their broken builds that cannot race as good.

Don't dismiss this masterpiece as too hard. I'm a soulslike noob who completed NG++ within 70 hours. Just learn to perfect parry while holding guard as that elevated my skills to cope with anything this game can throw at you.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Its a half baked game worth picking up on sale. The story is a good dozen hours of fun but the collectibles grind is a nightmare with no fast travel, minimap or compass which made me question my sanity for needing to perfect every game that I can.
