Stopped playing for years, come back and I find that I have way too much AP that I can't even spend it all because I need to level up first. Would play again.

Disclosure: Played this game all the way to the end. Have not completed all sidequests. Have not started New Journey+ at the time of writing this review.

Potential spoilers in my review.

Pros:
- Good artwork and animation
- Good combat mechanics for an RPG
- Hard to recognize it as an RPG Maker game aside from the stock sounds and effects it provided.

Cons:

- Normal battles get too long, tedious, and repetitive at the later part of the game. I found myself actively trying to get rid of these enemies as fast as possible, as they constantly come around repeatedly, and it gets boring after a while.
- Very easy to get lost sometimes. A main storyline quest is a bit vague.
- Sometimes the plot can get a bit dull at times, but there's plenty of good stuff in between.
- Could use a bit more portals for fast travel mechanics.
- Noticeable bugs. Avoidable, but noticeable.

Bug 1: Before fighting Lisetrix, you are offered a chance to save the game as well as heal up, as it brings up the menu. If you go to the "New Skills" area while at this point, you will be taken to the fight WHILE in the skill selection area. Results in you fighting Lisetrix in what looks to be a simple, beta fighting background, while the skillpoints are still visible. Not sure what happens if you defeat her as I didn't kill her the first time, but I imagine it might result in something gamebreaking, knowing RPG Maker.

Bug 2: At the volcano, there is a simple jumping puzzle that you have to leap through. It's possible to wound up jumping into the lava, and end up getting stuck in it if you take a certain path.

Overall, this is a game that took some excellent advantage of RPG Maker's mechanics. One of a kind.

If there's one thing I learned from this game, it's that you can pretty much do anything if you can create anything. The puzzles were easy cheese, and your only limitation was your imagination and how you utilized your knowledge of the outside world. Chop down a tree with an axe. Or a chainsaw. Or just simply destroy it with your horrifying user-created chainsaw-laser-axe monstrocity. Or just petrify it with your dad's cane.

It's an inspiration for you to actually know the words of things instead of just knowing things and what they do, that's for sure. That's the only limitation I found myself having. It's a fun game otherwise. You can send vampires to solve all your problems. Can't go wrong with that.

My largest issue with this game is that it seemed short. If they had added a level editor, it would have made this game more extensive. (those pickaxes and jackhammers would be useful again) Plus, it gives users an opportunity to put their user-created items in action, as they can show it off to others in a more interesting way than just "Oh hey, an object in the workshop that pretty much can fight dragons just like anything else."

While level editor made things aren't exactly charming like what Scribblenauts Unlimited provided for backgrounds, they could potentially add a lot more to gameplay. In Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts, you had both "Deluge" and standard missions (though admittedly half of those goals were solved using black holes) but at least you had plenty to do for goals.

Also, the AI is a little dumb (such as a cop unintentionally shooting another cop when they meant to shoot the dragon) but I guess when you're so busy drawing up every single possible item that you can draw, that's not surprising. They should consider keeping you from attacking allies with projectiles in Scribblenauts Unmasked. I mean, those comics are focused around combat, so it should be considered.

Aside from my complaints, it's a game worth playing.

Imagine if there was multiplayer...

This is a brilliant game. A game far more brilliant than the others out there. Why? It has discs. Discs which can obliterate the head of an individual within seconds. Discs that could send your joy and happiness flying away in an instant. And you're also standing on discs too! Discs which can send you flying to another disc! Sending you richochetting all over the place. Hah! Ricochet.

Keep ricochettin'.

I listen to a lot of chiptune music. But that music is nowhere comparable to what I've heard in this game. It's like the genres of "epic scores" and "chiptunes" mixed together to become a great ball of flashing shiny awesome. And the challenge? A big one at that; about as challenging as Super Meat Boy. I think that's the joy of indie games, they already know what audience they're aiming for without a second question about it. And this audience they have? One that desires a challenge for once. One who needs to challenge themselves.

Great music. Not recommended for people who have seizures though. Nonetheless, enjoy.

It's like a 2D Minecraft and yet it isn't a 2D Minecraft. It's incredibly different compared to Minecraft; the only thing similar is the fact that you can build what you will and you can mine into the ground, except in a shrunken 2D grid instead of a 3D grid. Other than that, it's VERY different.

Going away from minecraft, this is a game that seems to be a mix between Castlevania, Legend of Zelda, and Metroid. Or something along those lines. It's a sandbox game, meaning there isn't necessarily a goal; you make one. Build an awesome place? Go ahead. Get to molten armor? Go ahead.

Oh wait, advancing in armor starts to get tiresome a while. Why? Grinding.

The developers love it for some reason. They want you to grind. There really isn't much to explore either. Too tedious to go through that grinding process.

And eventually, they'll tick off the people who like soloing by putting them through these waves of monsters.

Aside from that, it's not a bad multiplayer game.

If you're new to this game, you're probably going to hate the community the first foot you step into it. Veterans do not like what newcomers do. Spawning explosives, building cargo container fortresses, all that crap would probably get you banned in a flash. I would recommend playing in single player for a while. You got a huge workship to play with in there anyways, why wouldn't you want to play in single player? Quick, on-demand downloads should be something of every game if possible.

If I catch you complaining about Wiremod at all by the way, I'll hurt you. While it's complicated, it's a choice. You don't have to touch it, you could just build something simple. You're better off staying away from the community if you don't like complicated things though I guess. I, too, like to be simple myself.

This is great if you got a new song that you downloaded off the internet that you want to listen to right away and pay full attention to it. You're surfing through a song, passing by beats and other stuff, trying to get the highest score possible. In a way, it's kind of like Meteos or some other kind of game, but it isn't, really. You align 3 colors and score. Or else, you're probably making your ship slit it's wrists.

Other than that, the subtitle under the title Audiosurf describes it well: Ride your music.
