Combat still goes crazy. DLCs are a bit of a hassle to keep working, but its worth it.

Why I quit this game:
  • The intro was so long it took up my entire first session.
  • The oxygen masks don't last any time at all and just force you to speed through areas. If you don't have enough to run through, you can't play anymore.
  • Minimal combat. The game gives you access to a mounted turret in the intro then for the next 40 minutes might have you use your pistol against 2-3 enemies.
  • Minimal interactivity with objects/environment. The introduction gives a little bit of hope as it lets you pick up a few of the objects not glued to the environment, but this disappears when you start actually playing the game. Most doors don't even let you grab the handle let alone open them, there are next to no objects that you can pick up or interact with.
  • The weird direction. The plot is largely told through dreams where you are broken out of your immersion as you see the back of your characters head and often float into it. The story itself doesn't grab you as it should in the beginning and tries to have me concerned about characters I barely know. Just strange direction all around.

Massively disappointing as I was extremely excited for this. Guess I should expect this from Vertigo though, Arizona Sunshine is only good because its a linear zombie shooter with plenty of zombie shooting. When you minimize the combat, their work doesn't shine.

Funny and has potential, but still plagued by balancing issues of the first game. You'll spend half your time running back to the nearest oxygen station.

This was very likely the best demo I've ever played. Visually this game is stunning. A clear Bioshock influence with circus creeps makes for one of the best indie settings I've seen.

The gameplay picks up really quick satisfying my concerns that it would stay really simple with the hammer as a primary weapon, though I'd really like to see better use of the right click or some sort of ability button similar to most immersive sims. I didn't use the secondary fire on any of the weapons because they just didn't ever feel worth wasting my ammo for usually just faster shooting. A secondary ability would also allow more enemies in a fight.

The AI needs some polishing, I like that they respond to hits, but the clown with the minigun didn't feel like a threat in the way I think he was supposed to as I was able to just magdump on him and get rid of him without an issue, There was also always one enemy stuck far away on a corner that I'd have to hunt down to unlock a door.

I'm not sure what the whole X door thing is about, having different paths to take on a future playthrough. Its an interesting concept, but I hope it's not some roguelike approach, this game works really well as a linear experience I think.

I loved the destructibility of things like pumpkins, balloons, crates, popcorn machines, etc. More of that please.

The harpoon changing colors of the light things needed to be demonstrated somehow. I had to sort of run in circles a good few times, try to check the forums and just sort of try everything to figure that out. There wasn't really any indication that I saw that said it could do that or why it would do that.

Altogether, it's an incredibly fun demo and I'm honestly super excited to play the full game. It's on the wishlist. I just hope the devs work on some things before release because this game could be a genuine HIT.

This is a ported mobile game. Starts with asking you to log in to Facebook or Google to keep your progression, extremely guided, straightup mobile game ad cinematic animation. Made me want to go back to Once Human.

I keep trying so hard to like this game, but almost everything is bad. The levels are tight and combat zones consistently have random objects like rocks, bushes, and rubble that get you stuck in corners. The dodge roll doesn't grant invincibility frames and isn't smooth enough that it's more beneficial than just running, the abilities become repetitive, enemies are bullet sponges on world tiers as low as 6 and getting hit by poison is just a nightmare as it ticks for so long you're doomed if your healing mechanic just decides not to work as intended which happens all too often.
It's also incredibly buggy with quests appearing as unclaimed after starting them, connection issues, and a strange tendency to swap around on multi-monitor setups. I unplugged my PS4 remote and it swapped back to my primary monitor?? What other game has that issue?

It can be fun, but it's also terribly designed.

Great game, needs to go free to play to maintain a playerbase. Get money through cosmetics and things.

This game is a less polished Surviving The Aftermath. Go play that instead.

Early Access Review
Signal Studios cared what we wanted for this game. They talked to the community and seemed passionate about the project. Last Bastion put it in the grave on arrival.
