2024/12/05 UPDATE:
The game is good now because the matchmaking has levelled out, and the Ranked is balanced.

The issue I found after playing the game some more and purchasing the Battle Pass is that the rewards is a bit lacking, and unlocking new operators can take a bit of time but nothing you can't do if you play the game everyday.

Some of the issues regarding balancing on my old review still stands so I will leave it down below. Regardless, hop in the game and experience this unique take on the shooter genre!

OLD REVIEW 2024/11/29:
You either get a blowout, or one of the best matches of your life. There's no in-between with the current state of the game regardless whether you're playing casual or ranked.

Currently, the game is mostly Attacker-sided because of the Superstrings (characters) selection for the Attacker is more robust and doesn't have soft nor hard counter on the Defender side which is annoying. There are maps that favored the Defender more, but a slightly well-organized Attacker can easily deal with the Defender.

Regardless, the gameplay mechanic is innovative enough for me to keep on playing for now. I'm praying the developer doesn't drop the game down the road. Also, I hope they do something about the Chinese players smurfing/pubstomping on Global Server, ruins the experience for the newcomer.

I AM GBF
GBF IS ME

The game runs exceptionally well on my PC, no framerate drop even on the busiest battle scene, staying locked at 120fps on Ultra graphic settings. The PC version is also superior in terms of the Multiplayer/Co-Op compared to the PS4/PS5 version because we have a Lobby/Room Select while the PS4/PS5 only have Matchmaking System a la Call of Duty.
That said, I have 4 complains with the game right now:
  1. The characters physx (hair, clothing and ornaments) are locked to 30fps. Playing the game above 30fps will cause the animation physx to be muted.
  2. Multiplayer/Co-Op are region-locked to whatever we set our Steam Download Region is.
  3. No rebindable Controller option. (Thankfully the K/M are fully rebindable)
  4. No option to select other Controller Icon Prompt nor the feature to auto-detect the connected Controller to show the correct prompt corresponding to the connected controller. (PlayStation DualSense/DualShock4 or Nintendo Switch)

Other than that, I have no other complains, because the game is exactly like how I imagined it back when it was still called Project Re:Link in 2016! The combat is fluid and responsive, the characters are lively and expressive, and the Japanese voice acting is superb and on point. Definitely worth the price I paid for, and I hope that Cygames will address the issues I listed above and all the other complaints that other players are experiencing.

An excellent city building game, plagued with performance issues and design/simulation bugs (at least, at the time I write this review) that hinders its potential. If you're thinking of picking this up, wait for the official mod support to be added, and then it'll definitely worth it.

Early Access Review
It took me roughly the amount of hours I clocked in on the game at the time I write this review to unlock the Kriss Vector (the current OP + meta weapon in the game at the time of writing this review, 2023/07/22). I am now officially done with the game.

「これは私たちが(これはボクらが)自分を取り戻すものがたり」

The first visual novel by Yuzusoft SOUR, a new branch within Yuzusoft that focuses on All-Ages. A lot of people might be turned off by that, hearing Yuzusoft and All-Ages in one sentence sounds like a blasphemy to some, but I for one, welcome their willingness to try.

Short verdict:
Do not buy at full price, wait for sale.
Long verdict:
I think the story is decent, albeit a bit TOO short. As soon as things picks up, it ends abruptly just like that. Parquet feels more like a prologue story to something larger, but all that we got is just that, a prologue. Despite that, I enjoyed story that was offered, as it was totally carried by the fantastic dynamic duo of Rino and Tsubasa whom are superbly voice acted by none other than Touyama Nao(東山奈央)!

The way she voiced 2 characters with distinct personality and demeanor was just A Class all around, I'd say if you're a big Touyama Nao fans, you ought to pick this VN up and immerse yourself in her exceptional voice work! Hell, in all honesty, this was the main reason why I wanted to pick Parquet up in the first place.

Lastly, I want to talk about the game itself. It uses KiriKiri Engine, but by God, this is the best utilization of the engine I've ever seen. A plethora of options with extensive customization, a fully rebindable keyboard/mouse AND gamepad support? What's not to like?

Pick this up on sale and go through the whole visual novel in one sitting, you'll enjoy this short and slightly sour story!

I can now play Persona 5 Royal on PC, and I was right all along (referring to my Yakuza: Like A Dragon review where people ridiculed me for believing Persona 5/Royal will come to PC).

Error P403 and E403
Apparently my ISP or my IP Range is not whitelisted to play the game anymore, even though it was working fine previously. Now, the game only works when I used Wi-Fi via my phone's Mobile Data (previously I used my ISP via Ethernet cable). The story is great and the combat is enjoyable, but I simply cannot recommend it due to the errors I've faced even though it wasn't an issue before.
