Beautifully put-together game in so many ways for being an ambitious indie title in a competitive and extremely picky genre. It's aesthetically beautiful with clear love put into the details, and from a more competitive standpoint it manages to find a reasonable balance of unique, broken, and balanced. Every character is extremely strong in their own way, but the game gives you the tools to succeed in even the most dire of situations without holding your hand in the process.

As of launch the game is a little rough around the edges with some janky UI/UX to be ironed out, but these are minor nit-picks considering the core gameplay is fun, the character designs are cool, the netcode is phenomenal even in the presence of four players, -and- it has functional crossplay on launch, something that many modern and more high-profile titles haven't been able to accomplish. The developers are also very welcoming and involved in their Discord server, very open to feedback, and as transparent about their process and their plans as any developer could reasonably hope to be.

These guys care and they deserve the support.

The long story short is that this game has a ton of potential, but it has so many problems that it's embarrassing even by the standards of essentially being "free-to-play".

Without doing an extreme deep dive, the progression system creates extreme power creep that makes playing at low ranks a universally terrible experience as either Survivor or Mastermind, abusive strategies run rampant, and no system exists to keep hackers in check. This is IN ADDITION TO other widespread complaints about matchmaking, the horrible peer-to-peer system that favors Masterminds to the point of GIVING SURVIVORS A LOSS if the Mastermind rage quits, and terrible balancing to the point where both Survivor and Mastermind players universally complain far more than they seem to enjoy themselves.

This game in its current state is incredibly toxic and irredeemable, which is a huge disappointment considering how fun it could otherwise be. It's incredibly demoralizing to new players, frustrating to people who survive the initial cut, and basically only rewarding to high-level Mastermind players, with their average 60+% win rate worldwide, or cheaters.
