Early Access Review
So, I'm totally gonna kick a can of worms here in a second. There's gonna be quite a few 'No' reviews below and above that recommend you DON'T get this game. Listen, we HYPED this game up. WE wanted an early access release, to experience the visions of Fun Dog Studio's Opus. If anyone is getting the game today, the 24th of September, at 3:00 PM EST, they KNOW it's under cooked. They KNOW it needs more time in the oven. If you're getting this game on the release of Early Access, you are INVESTING. This game has such immense potential. This game is seriously undercutting Triple A companies with it's price margin. This game is pursuing something that those companies would never risk to develop.

So yes, it's in my opinion that anyone who puts a 'No' is silly. I understand what they're saying in their reviews. I agree with what they're saying in their reviews, but it was us who asked for this. I'm sure Fun Dog Studio's would have gladly held off and kept it in the oven a bit longer if we weren't putting out articles and video essays left and right. We hyped it up, I'm more than confident we got this earlier than what they intended. Let's not discourage Fun Dog by dropping negative reviews on something we all knew wasn't going to be a completed product out the door. It's called Early Access for a reason. There's a disclaimer and everything. Invest in the future of this studio and this game.

(Edit: Out the game? Bluh. out the door.)

Early Access Review
I normally don't write a lot of reviews for games in early access (I think?) because I believe the practice to be redundant. Vorax as it stands is incomplete, has issues no doubt as any alpha stage game does.

So obvious issues aside as they'd understandably be, Vorax in its current state is surprisingly fun with heavy focus on the design of the infected and a pretty solid combat loop that kept me invested. There's rooms for improvement to the combat (and the rest of the game for that matter) but I doubt I need to tell the passionate developers working on this project that they need to work on it... with the product where it is right now and the rate they're working at, I'm sure that Vorax will be a title present in many Steam User's libraries in due time.

Re-downloaded this game to play with a friend after taking a long break.
Then Sony took a fat ♥♥♥♥, overflowed its diapers, and said it was my problem now.

Arrowhead is great though, they're absolutely precious.

EDIT: We did it. We saved Managed Democracy. God(s) bless Super Earth.

Give Bobby Prince his dues, Gearbox.
The game is good tho but seriously give Bobby Prince his royalties for the music.

A real throwback to John Woo movies, even having one of the first few levels be a reference to a scene from Hard boiled:

Fans of Max Payne, Hotline Miami and in general, older retro style shooters may really really enjoy this game and what it has to offer. The gun play is pretty solid, and despite the retro graphics that may turn some people away, it's the atmosphere the low res style provides that really immerses one into it's game. You feel like you're in a retro action movie with this game, it just does that good of a job providing that nostalgic feeling. Like watching the original Terminator or Scarface for the first time, it filled me with an appreciation of that good old action classic era with it's ridiculous muzzle flashes and it's over the top violence and gun play, you feel like you're in a film where the world is somehow at stake. While a work in progress there is a lot to experience here. The future of Maximum action looks more than promising.
