I just farmed spheres from the monster arena for a couple hours after work each eveninng. Not too bad as a wind down for the day. Also going for 255 luck took a bit longer, but meant less swapping for 2 other stats.
Decent armor and (of course) Rikku's Mix makes any fight not too bad.

Did it on console, steam version looked messy unfinished!
