Not bad but other games do it better in my opinion. Overall Holdfast is fun and pretty unique, but attention is really split and most the best parts of the game can be found done in a much better way as the main focus of other games.

For the Napoleonic part of the game its pretty fun but I still prefer Mount and Blade Warband Napoleonic Wars. The servers in Holdfast are always full so its a 75 v 75 but the maps are too big and the objectives split people apart. So what ends up happening is you have a server that is 75 v 75 but there are just 3 separate 20 v 20 's going on. The main objectives are almost always pretty weak so nobody cares about holding them anyway. People just set up their own wooden defenses and have a skirmishing duel where you only peak out of cover to take a shot, its not bad but boring after a couple games. The only extremely fun gamemode is siege but the siege maps only come into rotation once every 4 battles. Not really sure why when most the people I talk to agree siege is the most fun. I have much more fun playing minisiege in Mount and Blade. One thing unique to Holdfast though is the line battle events. They happen in mount and blade but aren't as good as holdfast. Once a day there is a 150 v 150 line battle of entirely players, its great but if you miss it you have to wait a day. Also no commander battles, and I don't think the devs are heading in that direction anyway, if you want commander battles Mount and Blade is great, and Battle Cry of Freedom is coming out soon.

I know the WWI part of the game just came and a lot will be changed in the near future, but I can still mention it, by its self its not bad. A lot of people love it but I suspect its because there aren't many popular WWI games out right now. Verdun is ten times better in my opinion. The devs pretty much just copied and pasted the Napoleonic part of the game and put it into WWI format, which is fine but it simply doesn't work that well. The movement is pretty awkward, no sprinting, jumping and crouching are very odd, perfectly fine for Napoleonic gameplay but it just feels wrong for WWI. The maps are a lot better for WWI than for Napoleonic, the map sizes are roughly the same but the WWI maps are broken up by trenches, have better objectives, and play a lot better when you can shoot more than one round a minute. The WWI games have a lot more action, the fighting is pretty hectic and people actually fight for the objective, so the full force of all 150 players can be felt a lot better. The fighting can be a little annoying because the Lee Enfield and Gewehr 98 (pretty much the only guns) can't one shot, but there are so many bullets flying around there is a decent chance someone already got hit a first time before you shot them.There's a lot of other jank that comes with the WWI gameplay but since it only came out I don't really think its fair to mention.

Good overall but mostly dominated by tryhards. Half of every server is filled with level 100+ abusing op weapons and mechanics, or mechanics you would only know about if you've been playing for a while. Been playing a good amount recently and I just see the same names going 60-5 over and over. Also a lot of the maps kinda suck, a big draw of the game is the fact you can have 64 players in a server, but a lot of the maps split objectives up so it feels more like 20. The progression kinda sucks too, to buy new weapons you need gold, and you get gold at a pretty slow rate. It's not too bad if you use mostly the same weapon or two like me, but if you wanna try out new play styles you have to use default weapons which aren't that good. Lots of roll players too, 10/64 a game are just people playing the lute while people dance around them. But even after all that I'm not upset with the purchase.

Most in depth flight sim I've played, except maybe DCS. Only quarrel is most of the game details and intricacies are reserved for joystick. Mouse and keyboard doesn't have the same level of aircraft response.

Enraging, but in a good way. I always laugh when I die instead of getting pissed.

Been playing since 2015, almost all of my hours are off steam my gaijin is Cmes. Just don't get into it.
