One of the greatest action games ever made. Period.

Entries in the souls series are often labeled as wellsprings of frustrating difficulty, with satisfaction coming only from victory after repetitive failure. It is a shame that many have avoided them because of this label. A shame because if one were to look past the lazy judgments and dive below the imposing surfaces, the long journey taken will tell a beautifully forlorn tale of the end of an age. At its core, the series as a whole is a complex philosophical allegory on the inevitability of death and the nature of life. Flames can burn beautifully, bringing with them warmth and comfort. Yet, no matter how difficult it is to accept, nothing can burn forever. Flames will always fade with time...turning to nothing but ash.

From Software's final Dark Souls entry (for now) is worthy successor to carry the story of Lordran/Drangleic/Lothric to its well earned rest. Praise the Sun.
