I gotta review this to get a Steam Awards badge, so you can totally trust this review!

Anyway this game got super popular and won a lot of awards. It's a solid and fun game, and plays well on PC or Steam Deck. There's probably other roguelike card games that are good as well, but this is definitely a good option if you're looking for that type of thing. I feel like it won all those awards this year because people are sick of woke, buggy, huge AAA games that cost 70 bucks and aren't even good. This game is cheap and is only like 60 megabytes.
I do wish it was DRM free, but it does have Steam DRM.

This game sucks. Or at least, there's a lot of sucking going on.
So I'm nominating the game for the "Best Game You Suck At" Steam Award, mainly so I can get some sorta Steam badge, and this is the only game I'm sure was released in 2023, since it actually says 2023 in the title.

You essentially live your boring life with your hot roommate, making money, watching tv, etc. I think you're supposed to do things to seduce her, but she basically jumps on you right away anyway, no matter what you do. So I don't really know what the strategy is supposed to be.
So it's kinda like real life.

Anyway, I guess it's pretty good, I hope it wins the award.

This is a great game, and I'm nominating it for the Steam "Labor of Love" award, since the devs have been continuously releasing new free updates for a number of years.

It's a really solid action platformer, and rogue-lite game. It can also be very difficult, but over time you do get better. After you beat the game, you can keep playing with higher and higher levels of "boss cells", but the difficulty ramps up exponentially, and since there's not really any new variety, I don't really have the patience to keep playing through all of that. There are a number of levels and extra content, locked behind the 5th boss cell, which only a very small minority of players will ever get to see. Personally I find that a little disappointing, but I guess you can see it as a reward for the truly dedicated.

While it's a great game, I can't really call it a great Metroidvania. The unlocked abilities don't change the gameplay enough for it to qualify, for me. They basically just act as keys for new areas. There is a huge amount of weapon variety to keep things interesting, but I don't think that makes it a Metroidvania. Thus I can't really call it a good Roguevania. Sundered probably takes the crown for that genre. None of this really detracts from Dead Cells, but if you're only playing it because you love Metroidvanias you might be disappointed.

[Edit: No longer free, but still worth a buck or two. Cute game.]You have one more day to get this for free, highly recommend that you pick it up!

This is a cool game, fun and philosophical. It reminds me of the old Flash games that used to be short, fun, and have some mysterious deep message. I'm glad people are still making this kind of game.

This is a really well done game, with a huge amount of free content. It's a "free" game done right, since you can basically play a whole well done game for free, without any limitation. You only have to pay if you want to buy extra levels, and they are priced very fairly.

The difficulty is fair, there's a good number of mechanics introduced, and as far as I can tell all solutions are unique and solvable with logic.

I saw this game was going off of Steam, and it had no reviews, so I thought I'd pick it up!

If you read this, you have like 6 hours to buy the game. But you probably won't read this. Oh well!

Anyway, very cute game. It actually plays more like pool/billiards than anything. When you launch the game, you're greeted with 7 cute octopi, or... um.. octopussies, or whatever it is. You use the mouse to knock the red ball into the other balls, and if 2 like colors touch, they're cleared from the board.
The music is fun and energetic, and the sound effects are cute.

The main problem with the game is that every level has a 1 minute time limit, then you lose. If there was a way to turn off the time limit, I think it'd be more fun. I'm just not that good so I need an easy mode! With the time limit, I doubt I can really progress that far.

Anyway, hope there are more cute octopi on Steam.

I'm a fan of local co-op party games, and this one is a fun one!

It has a lot of different modes for good variety, and cool stylized graphics.

The top review says that the game is not good for local co-op because of the split screen, but I wanted to say that it actually works pretty well. You can split the screen into 2, 3 or 4 windows. As that review said, it might be interesting to allow an option for all the players to use a shared map (ala Duck Game and Ultimate Chicken Horse), but maybe it's just too small to see if you do that. But don't be scared off, it still works fine as is.

This is a great game, maybe the best local co-op party game ever! Highly recommended if you have 2 - 4 people to play it.
Make sure you turn on "internet maps" in the settings so you randomly get peoples' maps that they created, it gives the game a lot of variety!

Really great game for a local co-op party game.
You can play with up to 4 players, all on the same screen, without any mucking about with split screens. The screen will zoom in and out as needed to show everyone. The built in maps are good, and there are also a lot of community created maps. There are also a lot of unlockables and achievements. I don't really care about 100% achievements, but its fun to unlock new levels, costumes, characters, etc.

The devs are also still active with putting out new levels and special events, which is very nice. All of the additions have been free.
