Expected dark souls with guns and it did not disappoint.

So far, I've really enjoyed my time with it. I put in around 12 hours yesterday alone. The bosses have been pretty fun to learn their patterns, weaknesses and just in general how to fight. smaller enemies spawning during the fights was annoying at first until i learned how to juggle them at the same time. My main complaint is the levels can be large, really repetitive and time consuming to explore.

Either way, I think this has become one of my new favorite games.
I'd give it a 8.5/10 and definitely recommend getting it during a sale.

I got it from humblebundle choice. Get it from there while you can, it's a really good deal!

It's extremely similar to the previous game, just in 3d. If you enjoyed the other game, you'll like this one. I haven't gotten far enough yet to say what's new other than the graphics(it's mostly the same so far), but i'm thoroughly enjoying it. The new UI and 3d assets give it a fresh feel.

great metroidvania, with fun gear combinations to try out different character builds, nice art, frequent updates with new content. the combat is fun and fluid, but can be frustrating; especially with the roguelike nature of the game. I enjoyed it. 8/10.

Hardest boss so far is the awful keyboard controls and you can't rebind them. Hands hurt after 10 minutes. Maybe i'll like it after I try it with a controller, but for now it's practically unplayable.

I heard good things about this game from a friend about all the ways you can approach a situation and wanted to like it, but it's WAY overrated. How did this get such good reviews? It's poorly designed and incredibly amateur. It tried to borrow some ideas from Deus Ex and put them in a randomly generated 2d game which is a good idea if you have the skill to pull it off.

The map generation and level chunks look awful and are poorly implemented. The "pixel art" is mediocre. Some stages have random effects happening the entire time. On one stage you suffer random every 10 seconds like getting paralyzed, dizzy, confused over and over or growing into a giant for no reason. On another missiles were raining from the sky the entire time. In my game they broke a random wall which caused the npcs to get hostile and killed me over it. That's terrible design.

It has a lot of items you can use in unique ways which is cool, but it wasn't enough to save the game imo. I was excited to try this, but personally i thought it was boring and infuriating.

It's good, but I think I still like old school better. Maybe it's nostalgia? idk.

I didn't play System Shock when it came out. I have no nostalgia for it. I think it was my 3rd attempt trying to play it before I started to get into it, This game is amazing. By the time I completed it, I started to think about the remake being made and how skeptical i am that it'll capture the magic of the original. I think I actually liked this as much or maybe even more than System Shock 2. I liked the pixel art graphics, even though things were not very apparent as to what they are, but after a few hours your mind connects the dots, everything beings to look and feel right. I got really immersed into the world after a couple hours. I did my first playthrough on the 2222 normal difficulty settings. The wire puzzles were really annoying and some of the combat encounters were pretty tough. I had to learn to use everything effectively. I need to do a 3333 max difficulty run now for the last achievement which I look forward to except for the 7 hour time limit to complete the game and wire puzzles.
I thought I may never complete this game when I first tried it, but now it may be one of my favorite games of all time.

MAJOR TIP:
+There's a button for making your single click act like a double click. I think it's Alt by default, but I made it 'B' and using that actually made the game playable for me because I couldn't stand double clicking EVERYTHING all the time.
+Press 'E' to toggle between cursor mode and Free-look which feels like a normal FPS.
+Customize the controls to use shortcut keys as much as you can so you don't have to interact with the crazy interface and play in fullscreen mode.

Dungeonmans is a good rogue-like with potential to be great, but falls short. I enjoyed the game, but I've noticed some balance issues, bugs, poor AI, etc. I'd recommend it on sale, but not for the full price unless it gets some needed updates or content.

I like how you can use abilities from all the other classes, which is what saves this game because there are not that many for most of them. The archer and warrior for example only have 6 each which seems like a missed opportunity, but using abilities from other classes gives it that needed depth, replay value and makes it fun to try different combinations. Conversely, you can actually get most of the skills on one character by end game which reduces the replay value. I'd like to see an update that adds more abilities though because it seems lacking compared to some other rogue-likes.

It offers a good challenge, but you have to pay attention to the difficulty of each area because it can change drastically from floor to floor. I was in a "trivial" part of the map but on the 3rd floor of the tower was a high level boss with over 13k health that was about as hard as some of the bosses in the hardest part of the map.

This is a personal preference, but I don't like the humor of this game and haven't really paid attention to the story as a result.
They replaced the names of things like strength with stremf which bothers me a bit. It's just not my thing and made it hard to care about the story or anything in the game other than leveling up and finding gear.

The loot system is pretty good. It felt great finding rare items later in the game. The colorful flame background effect makes items feel really powerful, but they got carried away it and put that flame effect on every item that does anything instead of just on the rarer items which seems detrimental. Almost everything nearly always drops loot, but its usually junk. They need to makes drops less frequent for junk which clutters your inventory which would also make it feel better when you do get a drop.

Picking up gold that the enemies drop feels extremely tedious. You should just automatically get the gold when you defeat the enemy instead of having to walk over 100's of piles all over the map which is even more tedious than most rogue-likes because of the lack of auto-explore.

Speaking of, there doesn't seem to be any auto-explore feature like most rogue-likes, so your hands will be very fatigued from spamming keys to move after playing for a while. Movement with the mouse doesn't work right. I think the issue with the mouse is that it just moves in the direction of where you click and doesn't path find where you click unless you right click and select "go here" which is too tedious to do half time you want to move. Selecting "go to nearest stairs" doesn't work sometimes either.

I don't like the "proof of stremf" upgrade system for skills, because it makes the difficulty too inconsistent between players and playthroughs. I'd rather just get x amount of points each time I level up.

The AI is good enough I suppose aside from when it gets stuck. I've noticed the range AI do nothing almost every time it's behind a corner. It will just sit there and lets you hit it repeatedly with any form of ranged attack which feels cheap. It seems to be an issue with the line of sight. There's actually an issue with that too while using ranged attacks as the player. The game can't decide if you can see the enemy or not. When you press 'f' to use a ranged attack and the grid appears, the enemy behind the corner is on the grid but you have to manually target it and the enemy just sits there like it can't see you.

I'd also rather see the equipment on my character rather than choosing the avatar. Tale's of Maj'eyal Does both though and is cheaper, so yeah.

I enjoyed the game, but compared to Tale's of Maj'eyal which is half the price and stone soup dungeon crawl (which is free), it just doesn't seem worth $15.

I hope the developer continues to improve and update this game because it seems like a good framework to build on and to become great, but it's not there yet.

TLDR;
It's a good rogue-like with a few issues. Get it, but wait for a sale.
