War Thunder is the only game of it's kind where you can use a massive variety of historical vehicles and witness the evolution of technology as countries from around the world developed their military powers and advanced their technologies. The arcade style and touch to the vehicles in this game gives it a charm unlike anything else. Realistic damage models, flight models, and ballistics. It has it's downsides but it should go without saying there is no other game quite like this.

I just reached 10,000 hours in the game. I've played it since 2012 when the closed beta for air forces was out.

There have been many updates over the years, changing the meta. This constant addition of newer and different vehicles, game mechanics, game modes, and more has kept people playing for 9 years now. It is the only game of it's caliber and that goes to show how hard this small development team has worked on the game.

A lot of people hop into a match in war thunder, they'll die to something stupid and rage. This is common among any and all video games ever built. This game catches a lot of flack for broken game mechanics, bugs, etc but they are usually ironed out over time. Don't worry about the grind, play whatever vehicles captivate your interest and entertain you the most. Not every aircraft is for everyone. They are not just stepping stones to a better and newer technologically advanced vehicle. They are historical vehicles you can fly or drive, take sail in whenever you want.

The pros:
-Massive amount of vehicles, game modes, and fun interactions with the community.

Cons:
-Some updates break mechanics, ruin the meta, bring in unbalanced vehicles and changes you may not like.

My solution: Don't get stuck on one thing. Try everything, there's plenty to go around. Don't let the toxicity of a free to play community get to you, hop into war thunder with a positive attitude and accept that it's just a video game. You came here to have fun, so have fun.

Wonderful game! However, some levels took quite a while to get through, perhaps I'm doing it wrong, but the game runs smooth, and everything seems to work! :D 5 stars!

Early Access Review
I have had this game since before it was on steam, and have played in it's very early development, I remeber when they first added helium blocks, had one blaster type, and only white blocks, with basic wheels, and thrusters.

It's a great game, you could say it evolved, and changed quite a bit, but one thing that they kept to was the basic concept. Build a ship, your very own design, and fight with it. Whether you build a good ship is up to you, or whether you decide to design something unique, and use it's advantages to the best of your ability is up to you. EVERYTHING is up to you, of course, your imagination as well.

They set out to achieve a goal, and then expanded upon it, so I give them the best rating I can, the critics will complain, but it's what they wanted it to be, not what they want it to be. It isn't their game, and they don't have to change it because someone wants something else, it's like asking a ww2 simulator to become a modern day simulator. It doesn't happen.
