To the people saying this is a Darksouls game... it's not... to the people saying it's too hard.. it's not...

IT's ARMORED CORE, a game that has a legacy of multiple generations, known for its difficulty spikes and hard learning curves in regards to your loadouts, playstyles and engagements.

You can boot up any old armored core game from the original to 5 and see how much the games have changed but also how hard they have become in their own respects.

AC1 had the economy to deal with (prices, expenses, repairs) and if you failed so hard you'd be offered a gimme of HUMANPLUS (handicap).

AC2 introduced overboost and multiple target fights (two or more AC's), and Multi staged fights including repairs and rearms mid mission. AC3 introduced flame throwers and new effects. AC4 introduced MASSIVE and i mean MASSIVE enemies and engagements *AC1 and others had them but they were not as big*

The game is meant to be this way, its surprisingly good when you actually have a grasp of how to play the game... if your a veteran or a new player you will see ways to work things out. If you prefer long range combat, you will work out a way to get things done, if you prefer up close combat you will work that out.

The game also has several ways to go about objectives in missions, you dont have to defeat EVERY enemy unless specified... you can actually bypass a good chunk of them to get your mission completed.

Bosses? Dude... GET OVER IT, you will eventually win you will come up with a different strategy and get through, there is a reason they added assembly in retry options.

now onward to the review of the game.

It's good, it's story that is similar to a few of the other AC games, it doesn't connect to any of the armored cores currently, but it has elements from each one surprisingly included as homages to the series.

I enjoy the hidden parts and the combat data hunting in the game while combat data is new to the part collecting, missions with hidden parts was something from original AC since the dawn of Karasawa and moonlight. (and yes those are before Demon/darksouls folks, check out Kingsfield).

The game has newgame plus alterations to missions which increase the replay ability, i really enjoy the fact that much like Last raven and nexus you have different choices to alter your endings... While not as many as last raven there are still enough endings to make the game replay worth.

Sound effects im disappointed we dont have the traditional armored core blinking sound for energy output empty just a simple gas tone but the weapons sounds are spot on and the sounds of boosters/walking make you feel like you are in the game.

Customization, while limited to a few parts (only really 3-4 corporations created parts ranging from light medium and heavy of the respective part).... there isn't much to it compared to the other games which is expected of a reboot.

You still have a wide variety of loadouts and designs though, the decal system and painting system really put the DECOR in ArmoreDECOR.

Do i recommend it? Yes, Do i recommend you try the older armored cores before playing? yes, Do i recommend you prepare for a huge learning curve? Yes.

This game is what armored core IS, a game of strategy and tactics. Not for hacking slashing and praying their poise gives way from your Dual Greatsword swings.

16 player coop, 4 teams of 4, base construction and mission objectives... It's full fledged battle simulator the way it should be.

but you already knew that didn't you?

IT'S STAR SHIP TROOPERS! GO ENLIST NOW AND DO YOUR PART CITIZEN!
-
Audio- matches the movies very well bringing that distinct prattle of weapons fire and plasma bug spewing.
gameplay- run and gun but also keep head on a swivel with constant battles against the bugs, 3 classes weapon selection as well as dynamic events.
coop- grab some friends, it has mic for the teams but its more fun with friends.

custom servers? - no
Server browser- no
server selection? - only regions

Missions - only two modes right now on one map from looks but it's massive map and location where you drop/extract is generally never the same.

More content is coming soon though.

Do i recommend? Yes, yes indeed. Enlist before you get a bug rock thrown to your town.

Group up with friends, ready to kick in the door, friend has grenade in hand ready to breach and clear.

Kicks in the door, whole team is killed (grenade was cooked too long).

10/10 Would play again.

-Serious review-

TLDR: RAINBOW SIX Back in old days, it's back baby!

Game has some love in it, really enjoy the teamwork in it and the near realism they are going for with the game.

Less than Lethal weapons are ideal options for completing missions and you can always forgo it in favor of just shooting everyone with a shotgun or rifle.

Teammates and teamwork is key in this game, just remember it's not like normal games you really have to be ontop of things or you will just die before you even get into the first room.

A shield is really needed if you breach like madmen because of the AI using unique tactics. (we've had them fire and retreat or covering fire on us).

they also use traps on doors and possibly vests to blow themselves up on us. It's a game that keeps you thinking nothing is really the same short of the maps, you learn the floorplans and go from there very much like a CLASSIC RAINBOWSIX GAME

i say again "A CLASSIC RAINBOWSIX GAME"

While I have Never played any other Gundam Breaker game to base this off a comparison... I have heard the tales that this is one of "THE" worst games for the breaker series.

Now.. That aside....
The game is not half bad if you are coming fresh to the breaker series all together (yes i said it), while the AI will team tag you all together yeah... It's still a fun game to play with friends if you get the game on sale (It was on sale golden week and also on sale right now for humble bundle).

I have bought a total of 6 copies of the game now so I paid my fair share for friends to try the game and enjoy it for laughs, the game with friends is fantastic for the laughs and combinations of parts to build your mobilesuit.

The story for the game though... oh god it's a Love simulator, through and through... But what anime game isnt really at that point?

New Breaker is what it is supposed to be, something of an attempt to be new to the series... it failed and got horrible reviews but that wont stop it from trying to at least give some fun.

Singleplayer collecting parts sucks, A LOT... AI don't share parts picked up and turned in so you have to rush them to get it before they turn in if you want that rare Part off Nightengale etc.

Multiplayer requires 3 or 6 players, no in between to play matches... cant play with 2 against 4 AI etc. cant play 3 against 1 player vs player or 2 v 2...

It's made for MOBA with gundam in it's own (which is about the right time when moba games were taking off).

-----that little rant stuff over and out----

Graphics: Game is pretty dated but graphically it's fairly good for what it is. 6/10

Sound: Game sound effects were from the mobilesuit games/series so what can you complain about? It's mobilesuits, the quality was pretty good too for what they are. 10/10

Music: Original music from the series and some from the game itself (though Selecting.. it's in Japanese so you have to listen first before selecting) 9/10 (-1 because it was skipped by QA about the language)

Controls: Oh god NO... Turn off the Auto lock onto CONTAINERS FIRST PLEASE! it will save your life, game plays decent on Mouse and Keyboard but it was originally controller based, 6/10 (seriously go to options and TURN OFF CONTAINER LOCKON!)

Everything else: The game has it's flaws, for a gundam game only on PC (outside of SD gundam)... It's going to be alright, if Breaker 3 came though, I'd shelve this for life and jump into Breaker 3 hook line sinker.

Bandai seriously... BRING BREAKER 3 TO PC PLEASE! Battle Ops online 2 WOULD BE AMAZING IF THE SERVERS WORKED FOR TESTING -Which is ONLY REASON I BOUGHT THIS BECAUSE IM GOING INSANE!-

Standard songs are a bit meh, but where this game shines is the community, lots of custom songs and mods for it that can make you workout from dusk till dawn if you're not careful.

be sure to wear a sweatband or you may drown your eyes in sweat after a good 3-4 hour workout session.

only downside is when the game gets an update it breaks the modding community mods for a few days.

There are DLC packs for songs 2.00 a piece which can be a bit expensive especially when they are not selling the whole pack but them all individually.

Overall though the game is freaking amazing and i haven't pulled out my old Dance Dance revolution pad since i got this with a VR headset.

It really is the DDR of the next generation gamers.

It's a long established series with multiple releases across multiple platforms, EDF 5.0 brings a whole new set of weapons and changes that feel like improvements to the game.

Network wise its more stable connections and players are able to share the box loot and armor with one another.

Story wise, as corny as ever but still fun to listen to the Japanese and American voice actors (only wish subtitles were a thing).

Over 100+ missions but the environment tends to be the same in general (which is what EDF is known for, LARGE MAPS recycled in different play areas but still playable and enjoyable).

Play it with friends and you will just overall have a blast, always when you change up strategies, Want to run nothing but rangers in a giant Tank of doom? DO IT! Want to fly a helicopter with three WingDivers helping you? DO IT!

Has quite a great depth of choices once you beat the game and unlock the higher difficulties, the DLC is a little bit extreme (missions are great, the drops are great in it, but the weapons themselves from DLC need to scale, they are great early on but later missions they just cannot compete).

Overall its a good game 8/10 and this is coming from someone who loves the series with a passion when it first came out.

I really hope EDF 6 has more improvements and keeps the franchise refreshed and new! :D

-Also, World Brothers for the children if you dont like the heavy gore, that is more voxel based and fun to play with younger audiences (Switch with nephew).

I realized there is a game after spending hours creating a character... 10/10 would Cosplay again XD

-Real Talk-

For Souls Like veterans this game is a breeze in it's own sense, you will be able to dodge attacks easily enough and back stab without too much trouble.

The story is not so bad but could be better, the gameplay itself is quite good but no PVP AT ALL (only way is supposedly modding the game files).

Co-op play though you can call a friend in to help you clear a zone but once boss is gone, that's it like normal souls games, but if you go into Depths or towers (beat game), or the DLC depths, you can call your friend to play with you infinitely to farm materials, experience, and tokens (only for achievement).

If you are new to souls games this isn't a bad way to start as it's not brutally hard, if you need help the community is fairly nice to jump in and assist.

There are TONS OF COMBINATIONS FOR YOUR CHARACTER in this game though, feel free to look at some of the guides they have thousands of different kinds of unique builds.

The character creation you can get lost in for hours just creating your "ultimate waifu" or just a character you like (gallery on discords and the community art section you can see some interesting designs).

Overall this games not bad, would certainly recommend to a friend, on sale or not its worth it.

We died many times, cave ins, spike falls, ghosts... and Joe with an angry shotgun..

10 / 10 would Die again.

Game is totally worth it with friends just for the laughs... 2 hours playing and we just didnt realize how fast the time flew by.

If you haven't played Spelunky 2 or Spelunky 1.... I recommend you at least try it because oh my god, while you may think this games cheap or cheezy... its hard in a fun way with friends!

even dead they can still help you or make your life miserable as a ghost by blowing objects away or freezing things in your path.... Or attacking Joe and making him Angry and attacking you with his mighty shotgun of Freedom :P

Got thrown head first into Bob's Angel mod with a friend, TABS TABS EVERYWHERE!!!!

After a three week crash course and literally unable to figure out the tutorial (hint disable the mods to work base tutorial)

I learned the game actually is quite fun and entertaining from a manufacturing point of a view.

Would i recommend with friends? Yes... would i recommend playing mods first when friends have no idea wtf they are doing? Well MY one friend says yes! I say... tutorial first then mods XD

8/10 would recommend.

-Edit:

Newest love of going to space, exploring new planets... subjugating the population of new creatures with superior firepower!
