Despite the extremely confusing development, and dropping the "Lineage" name, It's a good enough game.
There's a lot of PvP going on, but it's entirely an organized (and avoidable) affair so far. You can easily get about 400 people duking it out at the same time, more during bi-weekly organized events.
PvE bos raids requires your group to know the mechanics and a minimum of cooperation, I strongly suggest you go in with a premade, at least at first.

Immense exploration and building opportunities.
And most importantly immense freedom.

Want a chellenge? Go to a dangerous place to kill stuff
Want to relax? Just cuise along planets discovering stuff
Want to be creative? Build whatever you want.

Storywise it's not as good as Borderlands 2 ... but then again very few games are
Controls-wise it's pretty standard, nowhere near some other incredible fps games (e.g.: warframe)

Fun-wise it's a helluva lot of fun, and that's what really matters in the end.

Do paly it with friends, it's always better.

I really wanted to give a thumbs up, but ultimately the extremely clunky interface was too much a turn off.
If you are used to playing console games feel free to disregard the negative and go buy it, the game got really nice design and ambience.

The price is a mite steep for so short a game, but it has a lot of charm.

+++++++fantastic music (seriously, I find myself changing zone just to get my favourite tracks)
+++good design overall
++good ergonomics
++nice storyline
++badges (steam and in-game) are challenging but not impossible to obtain
---zero replayability. Besides the badges and an increasingly powerful team there's not much more you can get from a second run. Still the developer promised changes with a future update, so don't take it for granted yet.

Nice RPG, good story and characters, really good music.
Let me stress it: REALLY good music.

The replayability however approaches zero. You can run through the story 3 times for the badges, but after the second time it's just a slog.

Decent free rpg for the price.
Play it if you're interested in the sequels or to listen to the (quite nice) music, otherwise bother only if you have no game backlog

Nice dungeon crawler / rpg

++ good ambience, design and graphics
+++ very good character design
++ good game mechanics
++ good music

= a bit of grind, but not overmuch

-- battles against weak enemies are slow (setup, trash talk the enemy, then finally you can one-shot the lvl1 critter, then post battle banter), it's not overwhelming, but after a while it gets stale
- storyline is a bit too linear
-- replayability is not so great.

tl;dr: thumbs up *ony if you install some community patches*
(like the original)

This remake is a decent enough effort, but I can give a thumbs up only after I played it with the following mods installed (available in the workshop) :
5x - the ultimate balance mod
diverse specials and massive planets
unofficial code patch

the AI still sucks, but since it cheats shamelessly it's still a challenge.

tl;rd: decent enough game, might be too simplicistic for you.

It's pretty much a straight MoM clone, with less complexity. Research does not matter much past the first 20 turns or so, building up cities does not matter much either. Aggressive gameplay is maybe not the only one possible, but ... eh, you'll likely expand and attack as much as possible in the end. There is a bit of diplomacy with neutrals however.

There's a map editor, but it does not have a "generate random level then edit it".
However it's *fantastic* to draw d&d world maps with.
