Early Access Review
As someone that loved the original concept and vibe of NMRiH. I cannot in good conscience recommend people buy this game. Here's my rationale and contextual explanation. (Hastily written)

It's not that I expected an EA title to be perfect, no. And I have certainly played a fair amount of the original NMRiH. But it doesn't feel like it is an overall improved/better game here.

-MAP-
The map although vast and contains any landmarks feels too big for 8 players. I've mostly met survivors in the red marked zones but that's provided they did not die trekking their way there. That being said, the flow of spawning into the world feels unsatisfying to me.
You're alone(understandably) but all it is one spongy runner that can tank hits and not get microstunned by your hits to erase all your effort of trekking your way to meet those other players.

- COMBAT SYSTEM -
The melee feels "weighty" but feels like you're hitting air when it connects with the zombie and the swings you can dish out are slightly too slow. In many other zombie titles, melee weapons feels fairly weighted and feels satisfying albeit not as "immersive". I understand from a design perspective that's what they are going for to prevent you spamming melee but overall it does not feel good to play.

- TECHNICAL ISSUES -
This issue is probably made worse by the ping being inconsistent and zombies teleporting and vanishing. In addition, I'm not sure if it is a hitbox issue or a ping issue but the zombies seem to be able to hit you from such a ridiculous distance or angles that you have to toe the line of tap dancing with these guys. This paired with the issues I mentioned for melee makes it feel like a stamina management game with zombies than an actual zombie survival game.

- PS. -
Hell, I'd probably have a better chance surviving any actual zombie apocalypse compared to this. Swing twice at zombie, check my 6 while regen stamina, swing again, look again, I need to play like I'm a schizophrenic crack addict to survive even with other players because some runner is going to make a direct beeline to me and swing twice before I can even react.

- Conclusion -
It's not innately a bad game. Fix all these issues and polish them more and I'm sure it has the potential to be a great game. But currently many of these systems are broken or not just fun to engage with.
