Not played a huge amount of this game, but I definitely recommend it for a sit and chill game. And it has expansive potential with expansions or mods

Such a great survival game, all the good parts without most of the bad stuff. With the mod support already established, and the potential development going forward, I can see this gaming going places. Sure it's early access, but is worth it. I bought this for myself, my partner and a friend of mine. I definitely felt like I've gotten my monies worth. And I would probably pay it again if it was asked of me.
Looking forward to what the devs have in store for the game through the rest of this year (2021).

I never been so terrified of someone, or in this case something, sighing over my shoulder. Fun game to be had by pretty everyone bar those that hate horror games.

10/10 would spookum again

The ♥♥♥♥ you can do with this game is almost limitless.
Wanna be a Prison Baron and capture everyone for your Prison Labour force? Check
Wanna build nuclear weapons and decimate every other faction with ICBMs? Check
Fancy telling every other faction you are the new Planetary Overlords? Go right ahead
Want more factions? There's a mod for that
Want more weapons? Mod for that too

Just remember though - Eating without a table, is considered a warcrime (There's a mod for that too)


UPDATE:

Since my review the game has experienced three DLC launches, and is likely to receive a 4th soon enough.

You don't need either of the DLCs to enjoy the story creator that is this game, but they do add some nice features (and some frustrating ones too).

Genetics are great, and eventually with the right tech and research complete you can create walking gods, but you will likely need some mods or two to stop them from eating you to death.

Ideologies can be fun, but die hard fanatics of certain ideologies are a pain, especially if you recruit someone and their ideology is in conflict with the rest of the colony. Converting them can take time, but is worthwhile if they are a stat god when you rescue/capture/buy them.


All in all, the game has only gotten better, and even without the DLCs, you have a world of play options with mods and your own personal tactics.

This game is great, I keep wanting to come back and play more. You actually feel the progress and it doesn't seem to roadblock you at every point like SC 2013 did.
- Want more space? Then buy it!
- Wanna play offline? Go right ahead!
- Wanna go fast? Go fast, gotta go fast!
- Wanna keep building the same city? Do so, because it's saved where you choose, not on some online ♥♥♥♥♥♥ servers that crash everyday for the first 6 months (yes that one is personal)

And remember - Build Pretty, not space saving

Great game, prepare to lose many hours of your life with it.
