Pre-purchased this game before release, pre-installed before launch day & available to play almost straight away from Midnight.

So, I'll start this all off with addressing the ludicrous amount of bugs that the game is facing since the initial launch. There have been a couple patches here & there that have definitely helped a bit, but the game still has some. That's fine, it's to be expected with a new launch and I'm sure it'll be fixed soon.
Now, let's talk about the game outside of the bugs. The story so far has been fairly predictable; it follows a lot of cliches that you'll see in a wide array of action films/games. There are some pretty cool elements however, but the general gameplay and progression of the story feel so streamlined and restrictive which is really disappointing considering the universe constructed is really engaging and interesting. There's pretty much always a "right" option to pick, and the other options don't really give you different paths to progress through the game most of the time. It's more small-talk esque and is usually just there for what I can only imagine to be more of an immersive experience as it has information and topics of the world known as Cyberpunk 2077. Either way, the bottom line is that it essentially wants you to pick certain things and play in a directed way, which sucks for this genre of game.

There's a lot of BS in between the cracks. It's just a bunch of uninteresting filler that's forcefully displayed to you, almost like it's trying to make you care more about the world but it really misses the mark. The gameplay mechanics as well are something to be desired, gunplay is downright messy and so lifeless - I found it ended up being better to run around with a Katana instead of using actual guns due to how many issues you'll occur just trying to use them consistently. The HUD & Mini-Map are some of the worst I've used in video games, which is a pretty impressive achievement. There's a lot of things that just make the game a total chore to try and continue and playing through all of these stiff and jarring issues with the game, whilst already being half-drawn into an average plot with a very cool world just doesn't seem worth it.

The customization options (yes, THOSE options) were pretty basic too, nothing to write home about. Not like I cared about that, but it genuinely doesn't even matter. I thought to test it out and took off the ol' jeans to rock out with the ♥♥♥♥ out and become the new God of Night City but unfortunately I was being gatekept by my 2077 Calvin Klein underpants and couldn't remove them. The dream is dead.

All in all, the game has a really cool world and some pretty engaging characters at times. It can be a fun experience but it basically feels like you're playing a clunky TV series with little freedom to play an RPG how you see fit. Nothing in this game, not even Keanu Reeves (bless that man) can save it in my eyes, unfortunately. It's overwhelmingly average.

The starting options are all ♥♥♥♥. I...don't even have any other way of saying it... They're all just cut & paste versions of eachother in a mildly different setting but ultimately you follow the same narrative without it affecting the grand plot for instance. Sort of a shame.

The OST is decent, it's got a nice range of different genres and presumably artists too. It definitely gives more life to the overall world itself.

4/10
