Yakuza: dad simulator, is probably my favorite of the series I've played so far. The soundtrack visuals and especially movement take me back to the old ps3 days. That's something not everyone is going to like, sure, but if you treat it like an old game, you'll be surprised by how much it does right.

If you don't like Kiryu's dad energy and want to get back to the violence, R1 + X/A exists for a reason.

This may be the best RPG out there, at least until February 11th 2025. In no other game can I feel useless at the beginning, and competent at the end. It seems all other devs are afraid of making the player uniquely talentless and weak from the moment you start out. By having such a low point, the beginning of the game can definitely be frustrating, feel clunky and unfair. However, if you take a few hours to raise your stats, or approach situations where you're outnumbered smartly, the real charm of the game begins to emerge. The world and characters of this game feel alive, the quest design is perhaps the only truly open-ended example out there. In the beginning, Henry is a bystander in a world gone wrong, and by the end, he's carved a unique name for himself.

Over the course of about 4.5 months I completed 3 playthroughs, two of them on Hardcore, to go through the process of unlocking every achievement in the game. Before that, I played on and off, from 2019 to 2021, where the game never clicked for me. Perhaps then, I felt it strayed too far from the types of RPGs I was used to, or that I got annoyed at the 8th time Henry got pulled off his horse by 6 enemies on my way to Uzhitz. Whatever the reason, I wasn't prepared for how great this game could be. To WarHorse, should anyone read this, thank you. For staying true to your vision, and attempting something everyone else was afraid to try. I have faith 2025 will be a big year for you, cheers!

Core memories of my childhood have been unlocked, finally outside of flash I can play the game again, and more than the same 4 levels over and over again for hours.

This game is all that I remember it being and more 11/10.

A very fun game with tons of twists and turns along the way. I wish back when I started that I didn't stop at endings A and B, because what lies after is the best content and worth all the buildup.

9/10

Thanks to you-know-who the achievement grind is also not bad, and allowed me to walk away with a very positive impression, when otherwise it would've outstayed its welcome. For what its worth, I didn't feel like grinding upgrade materials for another 10 hours, so I'm incredibly thankful I could enjoy the fun parts and choose to remember them. Being alive is a constant stream of [E]mbarrassment.

This may be my favorite zombie game.

Great visuals, characters, story, gameplay, and definitely the best traversal with the bike.

Sony better keep giving us these games.

A "soulsborne" that shares more in common with Sekiro than any other souls game, yet still manages to innovate with a variety of new mechanics such as the plague weapons and reaving. The fact that some can be enhanced with your skills is also a nice touch. The potions also having different effects based on which you pick, and the ability to craft them using ingredients is also a rewarding experience. Finding the Four Thieves Vinegar recipe, and any recipe in general through small puzzles was one of my favorite unique parts of the game. The only thing that upset me was that the game offered no new game plus option, instead, you could replay the ending sequence to get each ending. The completionist part of me definitely liked that, but I can't help but wish I could've done runs up to NG+4 to get each ending. The parrying gave me the same enjoyment as was in Sekiro, but I think this game has done plenty to distinguish itself in a reasonably saturated genre. Its worth checking out.

A very fun space co-op exploration game, and an enjoyable 100% completion. First of the new year as well.
