ok wow, what A gem so far!

if you've played owlcats previous games than you'll know how detailed the systems they adapt are and this one's probably the silliest (there's a lot to learn!) with all the options available. I'm having so much fun playing with all the possible options and combinations which tie into the story so well. the trading and ship combat mechanics are fantastic, fitting the theme of an imperial trader. the combat is delightful and dangerous as befits the world (i love the deamon encounters so far, really creative fights).

update: still perfect

i was very surprised by this dlc. let me be clear in that i really liked the roguelike mode for the last game and i do like it here.

people have mentioned bugs and yes there are bugs but none ive noticed that were not already part of the main game, perhaps i was lucky in this regard, perhaps they have been patched. The structure here is better than the last dlc with different characters to talk to, a quest that takes multiple (successful) parties to complete and better modifyers for each run.

the tailwinds are a big sell for me. different rules to help you make silly builds like all barbs get +5 hp per level, exotic weapons are a size larger etc. fun stuff if it would let me pick my tailwind but unfortunately it does not. at a certain point the three random selections are frustrating to choose from and some of them are outright uninterestnig, i'd like to pick from all that ive unlocked past run 15 y'know.

outside of that issue, fun time. my weapon team of fauchard orcs swept those fools so hard

ok so i'm 95% of the way done with the game, just cant finish it because of an extremely unfinished encounter. otherwise YES i would reccomend the game

seriously i gave kingmaker (the earlier game in the series) a terrible review and while i feel bad about it that game deserved it. in general the only thing stopping wrath of the righteous from being the most meandering thing in the universe is its immpecable design.

i've played this game turnbased (mostly offline so thats why my hours are low) and never once felt bored or like the game was progressing too slow.
- the world map is well designed to help you make loops of travel around the world
- the resting system is an improved version from the last game, you dont have to worry too much about food but you do have to worry about your party's demonic corruption, stopping you from resting too often
- the story seamlessly weaves itself into everything you're doing, even romance quests are spread out through a tonn of different interactions, changing a lot of how i view the world.
- the encounters are fun and can be balanced as you like, a lot of mod options for difficulty have now been added to the difficulty selection screen, allowing you to play the way you like (or your tabletop friends like (seroiusly who cares about carry weight or being perma cursed and travelling back to base (you do? keep it on in the options!)).
- characters are charming and well written, the story has this cheesy 70's fantasy feel to it and its amazing. it's the first game where i feel i've earned the dumb "hero of legend" title.
- there's a lot more build variety and weapons than the first game, they've adapted the more interesting classes and subclasses from the tabletop and the mythic options give a little more to those objectivly bad classes you worry so much about playing but think have cool lore.
- the small changes to the pathfinder tabletop system feel less like restrictions here and more like choices for good game balance. spell length and spell inclusion especially, few fights felt like there wasn't a spell that could work for them and fewer still were unbeatable if i didn't have them.

onto what i didnt like:
well my friend i've played a hundred or so hours so i can say i've mostly enjoyed my experiance. one thing that has bothered me though, the latter stages of the game are a (small) step down in quality from the initial 2/3's.
- some encounters are ridiculusly hard, we're talking main quest enemies that have no reason to be stronger than a demon lord completely wiping the floor with my party for no particular reason, while giant boss battles a room earlier were easier?
- the map becomes filled out completely but you still have to travel back to base to clear corruption. as these late game quests pop up. i would have really liked a forward operating base.(if you can get this in the crusade mode, then thats my failure i played with it turned off due to flashbacks from kingmaker, on my second run i'll play with for sure).
- the companions are all really interesting and charming, i dont know about their ending but it would have been cool to allow you to change their alignment through their quests or something. seriously, some characters become "evil" in their backstory due to trauma or something of the like and while you can help them through the worst time in their life, their outlook never really changes. well maybe this just goes to show how much i care, seriously they're really well written and i love all of them, even if i did kill a few due to "disagreements" :)

overall, great game. a classic i would say. its the cheesiest, video-gameyist, table-toppiest adventure that will take you months to complete if you have any other comittments (sleeping, eating, etc). if you like tabletop RPGS and enjoy making builds or want to experiance a classic adventure, then owlcats wrath of the rightous is the best adaptation of the pathfinder system you could ask for.

wow what a suprise, this game is a fantastic take on the auto-chess(?) style of design thats popped up recently. the art and effects are wonderful and give great feedback plus the fantasy theme is charming. nice game, check a look

an exeedingly well designed and pretty game, valheim is one of the best "survival" games out here. i say survival in quotations but it really doesn't feel like it.

part of this games greatness is how they switch almost all negative aspects of this genre and try to make them positive.
- food is now a buff and you cant die from hunger, better food makes you super strong!
- resource gathering is less about tedious gathering and more about adventuring to find it. a real viking journey
- the game paces its content out very well, to venture into tougher areas you end up creating networks of outposts and villages to support your increasing power. you feel like a fantasy viking hero from the first hour.
- the game has a durability system but repairs are free, you just need to travel back to your home every once in a while. this means that you basicly never lose an advancement in technology due to overuse.
- building is fast as hell and quick, you dont need to "craft" walls, doors or roofs. the game lets you place them down as soon as you have wood and a workbench nearby.
- the game hides mechanical spoilers really well and expands your crafting options as soon as you find all the ingrediants for an item. i love picking up new things and finding their uses.
- combat is quite simple but the stamina management can make even easy fights interesting, using terrain to avoid attacks and sneaking up on people is still great fun.
- the leveling system in the game slowly but surely makes your character minimize the dullest parts of the game. you already run reasonably fast starting out, at running level 25 im already outrunning most people in the game.

aestheticly i also love the ps1 hyperlighting they're going for here, mixed with the lovely ambient music it really lets me just relax for hours.

- the bees are happy and you should be too

♥♥♥♥♥♥ this games awesome. i didn't expect to be so enthralled with photography or failing every levels timer just so i can explore them more. seriously this game captures exploration harder than most dedicated exploration games, i would so love to see more from veselekov in the future
