One of the few games i've bought on launch; possibly the only game I don't regret buying on launch.
Please support this game, we need more like it!

A very good followup to Mini Metro

It may seem similar on first glance, but there's definitely enough to differentiate it (and at this early stage I might even prefer it).

It is much harder to save yourself from a failing layout, since you can't re-route instantly for free or pick up the cars like you could in Metro, but it is also easier to see these pitfalls coming a lot sooner down the line, and you have better tools for path management.

The game is also notably missing a few features from Metro, such as difficulty modes and the option to continue playing on a 'lost' map, but it does still have night time and colourblind which are both very welcome additions.

Hopefully future updates will bring it more in line with the current state of Mini Metro, but it's still a great little game and worth picking up for the price.

I love this game and am excited to see where it will go.
It's very chill, a good way to unwind and I am looking forward to trying the multiplayer.

The default keybinds on keyboard need some work - at the very least you'll want to add air-tilt forward/back on S and W, move speed up / slow down to shift and cntrl, drift to s or x, and add air-roll left/right to D and A - Like Rocket League this is clearly a game for controllers, but Keyboard handles just fine with these settings.

For the devs, if they ever read this:

The super-jump you get at full meter could really do with being its own control, too, since it's a bit too inconsistent as is. Sometimes I wanna just skirt over the top of my tail, othertimes I'm expecting to launch over a lake but it doesn't fire.

The game is also a little too forgiving, even for a chill game; It could benefit from a normal check on collisions (if you hit a wall or a part of your own bus at a 90 degree angle, give or take 15, it should really count as a crash) and maybe a Speed-like minimum speed limit (currently it's a 5s countdown when you're not moving, but you could have that kick in at under 15/30/45mph for different difficulty levels)

Overview

While this may look like a fairly standard, if gimmicky, FPS at first glance, you'll find it's actually more of a first-person puzzler: There's always more than one way to complete a level, sure, but there's plenty more ways to fail.

Story

The core of the game is the story mode. From a technical point, the campaign is very well structured – a mix of tutorial and difficulty curve that proves that the developers know what they’re doing, but oh man, that narrative!
It's one of those rare instances of Sci-Fi done well – dark; intelligent; futuristic but rooted in the modern world. It takes 2-4 hours to complete, depending on your skill level and how solidly you play, but that doesn’t mean it's lacking in any way. People will be discussing this for years.

Replay Value

Once you've completed the main game, there's also a whole bunch of challenges - they're levels lifted directly from the main campaign, but with a tweaked rule set, such as completing the level in the least amount of steps, or having more portalable surfac- Wait. No, I'm reviewing the wrong game here.

Look, i'm not saying SUPER HOT is the new Portal, but I find it very hard to agree with reviews that put it down for being too expensive or not having enough content. The story length and quality are comprable, and even the price isn't too different when you consider the companies involved. The wealth of challenge modes put Portal to shame, and reddit is already pouring over the game for hidden material.

Don't dismiss it just yet, okay?

summary

If you like dark sci-fi, and I mean actually dark, you’ll love the story, and you should get on it before the spoilers come out.

If you like speed-running or ARGs, there's a whole swathe of goodies for you here.

If you like unique games with strong mechanics, and want to see more risks being taken by smaller companies, then you should totally consider paying full price.
