Before going into my views on the game: at the time of writing my review, I've got 150+ hrs playtime.
I've reached level 95 and 3x T1 badges (Hokum attack heli, prox sensor, K30).

BattleField 2042
Finally, BattleField is back with a modern view on the franchise, yet oh so debatable...
Even tho it's meant to be futuristic, hence the name 2042, I feel as if it is more based in the current day setting.
Overall, the game still needs A LOT of work. They tried to take key elements from other games and give them a twist to fit into the Battlefield universe.

The nostalgic feels in Portal mode are insane. Even tho I got hit in the face by how old I really am, it felt like yesterday when I was rocking on BF3. There are a limited amount of maps currently available, but I suppose with the introduction of the Season Pass we'll see more added in the future.

Hazard Zone is a battle royale mode, change my mind.

In my experience, the gameplay overall is smooth with the common rubberbanding here 'n there. I have a 3090 tho. On the subject of rubberbanding, they did fix it during the Early Access week.
By the way they forgot to add closed squads, rip solo chopper players like myself.

Retail game modes: Conquest & Breakthrough
The vehicular warfare is not 2042 worthy. It rather feels like BattleField 4 sneaked in and they gave the vehicles different names. On the positive side, they've removed the thermal capabilities of them -> this doesn't scream 2042 vehicular warfare but it is necessary for balancing purposes.

The underwhelming selection of weapons. It does limit your choices on the field as you fight your enemies.
Balance between the weapons available for infantry is ridiculous, attachments are broken and the recoil on assault rifles feels like pure RNG. Hitbox of infantry increases as u use a parachute, our Gods will know why.

The specialist system in the game give your playstyle a twist. For some I've it might feel refreshing, but come on, I'm ready to move on from Apex Legends. It's blatant they've gotten inspired by other games, that's fine! But at least make Dozer's Ballistic shield from Metal instead of 'Papier Maché'...
e.g.: weapon charms, why?

On the subject of inspiration, here we go, the season pass. No longer separated DLC packs, but an entire pass. We're yet to see what the contents would actually be, so let's keep a positive mindset about it.
They will make sure the community will take it to heart.

PP-29 field
WHO? WHAT? WHEN? WHERE? HOW? INSERT MORE WORDS HERE
I don't care about anyone's explanation. The recoil is non existent, bullet spread too low, damage way to high and range to long for an SMG ESPECIALLY with a basic magazine of 64. Hell to the F***ing O? HELLO? did anyone bother to compare all 4 SMG's? Did nobody notice the difference in handling the PBX vs the PP-29 vs the MP9 vs the K30?
I suppose it's only for me, the HUGE disappointment of the current infantry state. It's basically PP-29 > anything else on any range on any map. The only way you outgun your opponent is when you catch them off guard in close range. I've reached the T1 mastery of the K-30 and lost countless mid-range battles vs a PP-29 even tho I hit some headshots in between.
They're able to disable Dozer's shield or proximity sensors, but ignore the PP-29 issues.
It's simply not possible to express my disappointment on this subject.

Overall
It does feel like battlefield, maybe I was expecting to much and maybe, just maybe I was hoping for more.
If I were to compare this title to BF4 or BFV (my 2 favorites), it is currently not on the same level. A little tweak here 'n there and the future of the game looks bright in my opinion, as we'll see more updates to settle the game in it's destined course throughout the Season Pass.

If u wish to see my gameplay or want to see me cry about the PP-29, u can do so on my twitch -> Gottaburn[twitch.tv] .

FAKU to all PP-29 enthusiasts.

Let's jump into it!
Literally!!!

From the first step you take in the steep tutorial you get introduced to the beautiful and breathtaking world of Steep.
You start off by doing the tutorial. If you proceed slowly and pay attention to the instructors tips and hints, you will be a professional anytime soon.

You can chose between the challanges Ubisoft created for you or just buy helicopter tickets and go for an unreachable location to start freeriding. To spice things up, you can invite friends or random people which you pass by and create challanges for your party!

Mechanics
I am not sure if it is my personal controller handling or something, but paragliding needs some tweaks. The AI's fly off with an unseen speed while I am stuck at a relatively low speed. (Once again, could be just me)

Sound / Music
F... me sideways in the most collosal way you can imagine...
The sound effects are so damn accurate. The way that the powder snow stamps together as you ride over it is very very very (very x 10000) realistic.

The music is something I find very fitting to the challanges and the game in general, although I think there should be a bigger variation? I only heared about 4-5 different songs so far.

Suggestions
  • Music: Unlock new tracks as you enter new zones or by doing challanges.
Maybe even by purchasing them with the in-game currency.

  • Switching Riding styles while mid air.
Let the hate flow trough on this suggestion, but I think it should be awesome to switch from snowboarding to paragliding if you make a big jump aka big air.
This would be a nice update which I would love to see happening in steep.

Thank you
A special thanks and a brief moment off silence for the developers, riders and everyone who has put a hand on this piece of artwork. I trust that Ubisoft as well as the Steep crew will take this game to certain hights.

Estelle Balet
You were too young to leave the snowboarding scene.
I am sure you would love this game as well.
You are missed Estelle!
Take care, the brightest star!

This game looks like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of fun!!
Too bad it is a "Local co-op" :(
As soon as it is "Online co-op" with private and public lobbies, Ooooh man.
I can't wait for it to go online!

Currently the best game that I have in my library!!

It reminds me of an old game "Road Rash".
It was my most favourite game in the Monsta childhood.
